It was May 26, 1995 when then-Microsoft Bill Gates wrote an internal memo to Microsoft's executive and his direct reports about the benefits of expanding their internet presence. The memo was simply titled "The Internet Tidal Wave."

Months later, in August 24, Microsoft released Windows 95 to the general public. And the rest, as they say it, is history.
