Is this one for real. Website value and web information
Do we really get the price listed there.

You need to take those sites for the joke they are... Nobody can value your site but you. Some say it is worth 6 times the monthy earnings while others will say it is only worth what someone will pay for it.

One of my sites it says has a potential ad earnings annually of $4,000 - that's funny my site has no ads ...

I haven't really found those sites to be any truth. A site might tell you the value of your website is 1500, but in reality you might not even get half for it. It all just depends...

There are many many factors that lead to determining the value of a website. The most important being an actual buyer and what they're willing to pay in the first place. It's hard to factor in the "want" from that buyer which will play heavily in determining the perceived value.

Your website is your virtual real estate that will be more valuable for every day if you build links to it and add more content to it.I would not sell my blog for a few thousand dollars when I know it will be worth 50 times at least in five years time.

    Kris,

These tools have nothing to do with what your website really worth. Having said so, you need to know also that the higher the result of these tools is for your site, the better. In fact, these tools collect several information about your site through different data centers. When you submit your site to check what is it worth, the tool goes automatically to check things like:

    1) How many pages are crawled by search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and others.
    2) How many backlinks you have to your website.
    3) What is your Compete and Alexa ranking, and what is the average numbers of visitors to your site based on them.
    4) Other information regarding your site that I personally don't know if they are accurate, and don't want to share so I don't confuse you.

Even though many people think these tools are just for fun, I personally don't think so. You can use these tools and see what they say, and you can somehow build an estimate of what your site worth, by comparing it to other sites that you try these tools on.

If we need to review it quickly, these tools build most of their results based on Alexa and Compete Ranking for your site, besides the backlinks to your pages (and your pages PR). But let's face it, Alexa and Compete ranking is not accurate as much as people think. They measure the results based on how many people "having the Alexa Sparky toolbar installed in their browser" who visited your site. For instance, if a site ranks better in Alexa than another site, it doesn't mean that in real, the first site gets more traffic. Most people using the internet DO NOT have Alexa Toolbar installed in their browsers.

If the value you get from these tools say your site worth alot of money, and you don't have that much traffic in reality to your site based on Google Analytics tool or similar statistics tools, then I personally assume that maybe - just maybe - the visitors to your site are more into technical people, since most people having Alexa or Compete Toolbars are IT Specalists.

Top line is, the value of your website and how much it's worth, is relative to you and to people who are interested in it. Go ahead and browse your site from a neutral perspective, try to judge and look once again what you have on the site, and you will get an "approximate" value that can be much more precise than these tools.

    Best regards,
    Wassim

The "value" of a website at a particular point in time is what someone is prepared to pay for it at that point in time. That value is usually based on a combination of actual site income and potential site income.

For example a site with an annual income of $1,000, running costs of $50 (net income of $950) might be worth, say, six times annual income, i.e., $5,700. Some people might give the site a higher multiple, others a lower multiple, depending on various factors such as how likely the income is to change and how much time the site takes to maintain.
