Default What do you do when a product doesn't convert?

So, I decided to build a site around a popular topic that will probrably be highly discussed for a while, found a keyword that wasn't competitive; built a site and added a presell for a product in that niche.

Only problem is; the product doesn't seem to be converting at all, and I'm constantly getting at least 30 - 50 hits a day from search engines and links off of popular resources on the topic.

And there don't seem to be alot of other products popular in that particular niche ( I'm looking outside of clickbank as well )

I came to ask really; do you think anyone would really buy this site if it was listed on Flippa? It get's around 30 - 50 passive hits a day and has a coupon page rank 2 - 5 backlinks pointing back at it, it's on the 3rd position for it's main keyword and listed on positions 1 - 10 on several other long tail phrases, I think if anyone managed to find a good way to monetize it they'd be okay.

Or should I just give up on the site alltogether?

Most likely, that's a true reflection of the real problem.

There's no point of catching the #1 spot on Google for "crossbreeding cats with dogs" (silly example) if there's no demand.

Yeah, only problem is that I'm still seeing quite alot of adwords ads in the same niche directing to the same product.

After reading the clickbanks product stats however I realise that only 45% of the sales are made by the affiliates.

There's 3 other products in clickbank but they both have a gravity of under 5, but I'm testing them out anyway.

You can continue testing different clickbank products or you can develop your own product out of PLR, hire a writer, etc...

Or you can monetize the site with a master resell rights products : Private Label Rights, Master Resale Rights, Master Resell Rights, Private Label Resale Rights, ebook, video, software

All you need is a PayPal account and a digitalproductdelivery.com or e-junkie.com account to deliver the product to paying customers.

Can it be a "browsing niche" rather than a "buying niche"? Presumably not, altogether, if you're seeing steady AdWords ads. Interesting.

What are you inferring from that? (Other than the fact that obviously the vendor's making 55% of the sales? Or 45% anyway, allowing for a proportion of affiliate sales not to be tracked properly.)

Quite right, too. (My own two best-converting products at the moment both have single-figure gravities. And once you have the site anyway ... ...)

Interesting idea from Mark, just above.

Interesting situation. Look forward to seeing an update. Wishing you well with it, however it turns out.
