Default Google Rank on two different computers

Hi everyone.

For some reason when I search for one of my primary keywords on my computer, it shows up at like number 8 on page 1 of the search results.
Now on my girlfriends computer, different computer on the same connection, it shows up first result on page 2.

Could anyone explain why this would be happening?

Are you logged into your gmail or google account?

Google associates and ranks pages based on what you visit while you are logged into your gmail or google account...

No I'm not logged into my google account. Well at least I don't think I am. At the top of my browser on the google site, it says Log In.

Just kind of confuses me as to why it would show up in different locations on two different computers on the same IP address.

You don't actually have to be logged in. Your cookies I think could also possibly effect it. The only real way would be to clear out all of your internet history with something like CCleaner first.

If not Ccleaner, just clear your cookies, cache and history from your browser itself. That'll do the needful.

Yes, cookies play a part.

If you repeated click a certain link on a computer using a browser, when you search for the term again, it will show up to be the first few PLUS telling you how many times you clicked on it.

Delete cookies and log out of any gmail accounts for a 'neutral' result.
