Hey guys,

Thought I'd share a tip I have learned about 2 months ago from James Schramko's Internet Marketing Speed ebook...

This tip alone has helped me hugely...and it's as simple as this...
  • Set a timer on for 40 minutes, and do as much as you can in those 40 minutes. Once done, have a 10 minute rest/break, and do the same again for 40 minutes.
A lot of the times now, I work in 40 minute increments, and it's helped my business a huge amount.

For those that don't do this or something similar, give it a go, I'm pretty certain you will be glad of the results

Have a great day

That's a good tip. I find it's tough focusing on a specific task with 3 kids running around, that could help a lot. I've found I just need to set time aside and say: The next hour is to play with the kids, the hour after that I need to write some articles, etc, etc, and don't deviate from that.

If I were to spend a few hours per day consistently and not take any breaks, I would not be as productive as I want to be.

It is very important that each and every one of us take a break every hour or two online. I usually work 2 hours and then go out for a coffee outside for like an hour.

Good plan. Just decide how much time you need, and work with that and create a schedule and stick to it

That's cool mate.... you're already doing something similar. I used to work non-stop without breaks sometimes, and then productivity goes down the drain.

Setting a timer is the thing that helps me the most also.

That and writing down my goals - long term and short term.

If you want to make an excellent tip even more effective, get familiar with your own rhythms.

Most people have a couple of times a day when they perform at their peak. For some, it's early morning while others have peaks in mid afternoon, etc.

Set your timer and work on the tasks that depend on your creativity - writing, making video footage (I know it's electrons, but most of the filmmakers I know still talk about footage), etc. Set your off-peak timers and work on the 'grunt work' - submitting articles and other content, doing backups, etc.

I like it; but I would suggest a twist. If you are just trying "to do as much as you can" in the 40 minutes, you leave yourself open to straying off task (or at least that's how it is for me). What I do is set a few tasks that need to be completed in a set time frame like:

"In the next hour I need to have a completed rough draft of a 2000 word article"

By pitting yourself against the clock, you create a sense of urgency. The fact that the time seems to go faster as well is an added bonus lol.

A very interesting tip, and one that I think I will try each time I sit down and write a new article.

    Thanks for the share.
