A bit of an article marketing question

All of my articles have been based around what I know so far. Which is internet marketing, clickbank, list build and so forth. This has allowed me to direct all of my traffic to my main domain in which I blog at. However here is where I am a bit stuck and would love some feedback as to how you do it and the best way to go about it.

Lets say I want to write up an article on world of warcraft and sell the guide via clickbank. We all know ezine articles and a large majority of other places will not allow me to link directly to the clickbank product and I instead need to direct it to a main domain.

How do you yourself go about doing this? The only things I can think of are this at the moment.

Buy a .info domain for $2 and redirect it
or
Buy a .info domain or .com and create a mini blog out of it with content and clickbank products that have to do with that topic.

Thanks for any input!

Personally I would choose a .com and point the articles there.

Just remember the new FTC rules for blogging, if you are focused on one product and you are receiving a commission you have to let people know that. (that's the readers digest version of the FTC rule) here is a link to that info FTC Publishes Final Guides Governing Endorsements, Testimonials

Have you thought of creating a capture page, and then give away something of value to get people onto a mailing list?

I'll be honest I know very little about world of warcraft, but I am sure every gamer is looking for an edge, maybe your capture page could give away your guide or even a few choice tips within your guide.

And then your list can be about tips and tricks for world of warcraft? And then in turn market a wider variety of gaming products to your list.

Have thought about a mailing list but not really sure if I want so many different vulgarizations on my aweber list. I already have 20 in the IM field and its a pain to keep up with.

For me, it depends on the article. Is the person that ends up at your resource box likely to be a buyer or an information seeker? If he/she is a buyer, I will redirect to the vendor. If they are seeking information, I will send them to a blog to warm them up a little.

Much of this has to do with the keyword in your title (that is likely how they found you) and the tone of the article itself.

Having said that, sometimes you can't tell what is going to do the job.

It also depends on the niche. I have some niches that convert well with nothing but a redirect to the vendor's page. And others...well, not so well. I am not experienced with WOW, but I would try the redirect and see what kind of response you get with different articles. You can always throw a blog up if the results aren't great.

I would use option #1 to test things out and see if I get sales.

If I do - I would do option #2, linking my resource boxes to a good landing page.

I normally just grab a dot info from Godaddy and redirect to the Clickbank offer.

From what I have seen .com's always rank before .info's on Google and other search engines but I have no solid information of that as of yet.

I am thinking the more professional road would be to build a quality content page spend a day or two on it sucking up information that is helpful from various sources and inputing it into a blog type site. Then having ads etc for the clickbank product. Of course all SEO factors would be placed into the blog.

Was just curious how people where going about this so keep it coming.

Find a few sites that are dedicated to the game, not by marketers, but from the gamers and learn the language that they use. (Better than just keyword research)

I used to hear this guy speak about the game all of the time, and I couldn't understand what he was talking about.
To add to this point, you can look for domains that only someone from World of Warcraft would know. You could then look up those keywords on a keyword search and buy the domain if it is a keyword that Warcraft gamers search for frequently.
