Marketers SHOULD Complain About Marketing
Which just doesn't make any sense.
For one thing, it implies that anything goes in terms of marketing, that any technique is okay. And that just isn't true.
But even more importantly, we should complain. If not us, then who? The majority of people who don't know a blessed thing about marketing?
We should be talking about what we like, what we don't. We should be talking about what works, what doesn't.
There are lots of newbies here (and that includes me) and if they don't read here what works and what just annoys people, then they're not going to know what they maybe shouldn't do.
If we don't talk about what kind of marketing we like and we think works, then we're going to spawn generation after generation of people using ham handed techniques that give all of us a bad name.
There's value to be had in learning why somebody does something that annoys. Pissed that you're being offered a million upsells? Maybe they know something you don't. You might not like it even after you find out why, but at least you'll have a clearer idea of what is right for you.
So complain. It's good for you.
