Yet another newbie question

I am new to affiliate marketing but have some experience with SEO etc. Now I am promoting BlueHost. Promoting it on articles written for newbies. Get some targeted traffic from Google. I have not been able to produce any signups.

Now the question is: This ZERO conversion rate is because of BlueHost or is it me. I mean does BH promotion has really low conversion rate?

I don't think it is bluehost, they do fairly well, and the owner is a nice guy. How many articles have you written? Where are you submitting them to? What links are you sending your article visitors to? How many views per day are you getting? These are the questions we need to know more abotu to further help you.

Yeah it depends on your stats. Are you promoting it enough? How much traffic are you getting from your work? You might just need to get more traffic to your site.

I have a similar problem with an ebook that I promoted (SuperTip - you can see more about it in my blog Good-bye To Google |). The ebook has pretty good conversion stats and I have been lagging miles behind these stats.

The main explanation is most likely that I have been targetting the wrong audience - an unqualified, unresponsive mass of Twitter followers in my case.

Do you think this could have been part of your problem? Newbies can be particularly fickle as they do not yet have acquired the habit of parting with money to build a business.

        To your success in 2010!

I am not promoting it through EZA etc but getting targeted traffic from Google.

I have 5. 1 on my blog and the rest on a web 2.0 site. I normally get 30 - 50 targeted unique visitors per day on them. I send them to the BH through my affiliate links placed in the articles.

I would also advice that you dont take them directly to bluehost but rather to a landing page/Blog where you will presell them first. I personally use Google Adwords for my CPA, it can be pretty expensive if you are not sure about what u doing, it is a matter of testing and finding what is best for you. Provide more info, like CDawson said. In that way we can be able to help you further..
Yea I might try Adwords. Avg. bid was $10-12 for this niche.
By articles I mean, not articles on EZA etcetera, but on blog/web 2.0

I am quite new to it all as well and i must admit, traffic in the early days is not easy. I agree with Bless5, CPA is a way to get things moving (although it can be an expensive one) - maybe try some solo ads if the budget allows

I imagine hosting is a tough one to crack, and you need to get the visitor when they are teetering on the edge of buying, not when they are just going round comparing offers. You may have made a potential sale but lost it to another affiliate. If anyone does hosting affiliates correct me if I am wrong. I have tried it myself and failed failed failed!

When I purchased hosting I signed up as an affiliate myself, robbing anyone else of the chance of making a $ out of me

Perhaps try a different niche that is less competitive and with less tech-savvy people using it.

Yes, I have been thinking that this might be the problem with my articles. I hope I can find a good niche if I don't succeed in this one.

P.S. Thank you all for taking out time to answer my question.
