Need A Website Review for A Friend

My friend who runs a Christian Non-Profit organization just had this sales page set up. Can a few of you look at it and give him a few suggestions. My immediate thought was, "You paid somebody to do that???" But I want to offer him some constructive criticism since I think he's going with PPC to start.

This is the link to the page:
selfesteemofjesus.com

Thanks,
Lis Carpenter

He really paid someone to do that?

Content looks okay? But the layout to me is bad. I don't like the colors or anything really on the page. Not something I would buy or a design to have done for me (cause I can do it myself).

Also, the SEO (search engine optimization) on the site needs work. The title reads "Blank" and there is no meta tags or meta description. Content is King but these are simple necessities.

I would have done a much better job for an affordable price. No really.

    Just my two cents

    Hmmm.

Ok, so it looks horrible, no eye candy at all but that doesn't necessarily stop you from making sales as long as the heading is eye-poppingly catchy.

Ok, so I can't quite decipher the sub heading but that doesn't necessarily matter as long as there's a compelling story.

Um, ok so the sales page isn't all that compelling. There's no real back story, so if I had low self esteem I'm probably not relating very well with how your friends situation was similar to mine. Ok, that doesn't matter so much as long as I'm clear on the benefits.

We have some benefits. Nice. What I don't quite get is how I am supposed to go from the sad, lacklustre self abusive type to the chipper go getter I want to be, even if I have those benefits, so there's a disconnect that doesn't quite have me believing in your system even though I'm told I shouldn't be thinking 'sure, another one of those programs that don't work'. Guess what I'm thinking...

Assuming they actually get this far, perhaps there are others who have tried this product, what do they say? Wait, before we get that far I get confused again. So the author is a missionary and the product has helped others. Was the author a missionary before he started helping others? Or did his realization and ability to overcome his own self esteem issues enable him to help not only himself or others? How does this relate to me again?

Testimonials read pretty well. Ok, perhaps this thing has helped others, but I still don't understand how. What is it about this system that makes it special? The author keeps telling me it will work, but why is it any different from the other things I've tried? Keep in mind, I'm low on self esteem...not exactly brimming with confidence and positive thought here, I may just need a leg up.

No bonus items, ok the product must be really really good.

No opt in for an ecourse so you can have the opportunity to really convince me this thing could work? Guess its enough to hope to catch passing traffic on a good day.

Oh, speaking of traffic, that might be hard to come by since the genius who build the site did it for them in yahoo builder and hasn't included any Title tags or meta description.

I could go on, but I think your friend could (and should) improve both the site and the copy before going live. If I was an affiliate I wouldn't promote this in a pink fit. There are lots of good WSO's on copywriting. Even using 'paint by numbers' copywriting would probably improve on this sales page, and they could get some bang up graphics for under $100 in the services section of the WF.

I do wish your friend the best, at least they had the guts and determination to get a product together. For that they deserve kudos, but we might as well make sure they can sell it.

Thanks for the the thorough reviews!

I noticed that the page lacked a header and meta tags, but I was hoping that the designer just hadn't gotten to that part yet. I really do not have faith in his designer, but he didn't listen to me when I suggested he go with a freelancer on Elance. I didn't even think of checking here.

As for email capture; my friend is really new. I tried to convince him to get an account with Aweber and he just didn't full understand WHY he needed one. *SIGH* I think he will in the future.

Hopefully I can guide him into implementing all the other suggestions in the future because it's all new to him and he's easily overwhelmed. Thanks Again!
