How to Utlize Press Releases?

I have been reading here and there about Press Releases but have never attempted to use them to generate any traffic.

My blog is in the Frugal Living niche and I was wondering how other Warriors would go about doing the press releases to get best exposure and backlinks.

Also has anyone had any luck with paid Press Release services?

    Press releases are good for a burst in traffic, but the traffic doesn't last.

      Using a press release can be a good way to get exposure and backlinks and if you SEO your press release you could stand to get good traffic from the search engines...

      The question is which are the best sites for press releases for SEO?
