Advertise on my site - How much?

I have had requests to advertise on my site but I don't know how much to charge or what's reasonable. Any warriors have a model for this?

Check ad networks and see what sites that are similar to yours are charging for links. By similar I mean in terms of traffic, reader demographics, niche, etc

If you're considering selling the ad space via CPM (cost per thousand impressions) then it depends on the size of the ad and the placement. Anywhere between 40 cents to $10.00 per 1,000 impressions is within the industry standard. Rates change based on size, placement, whether it's an image ad, animated, changes often, that you're obligated to mention it in your editorial content, how long it's up there - if there are other ads around it etc..

You could also consider going with a CPA network (cost per acquisition,) if you were considering placing ads and receiving a profit from however many sales or leads (or whatever the advertiser is looking to gain) are generated from your page. I recommend looking into it!

It really depends on your niche, the quality of your site, your traffic and, of course, what folks are willing to spend.

I've sold ad slots for years. I don't charge by click throughs or anything like that. I just use standard rates based on time displayed and amount of info posted.

    Three ways:
    1. 50 word classified listings for one month for $30
    2. Sponsor links on the main page for $50 for two weeks. Includes link to the buyer's site and tagline. I also include their sponsor link on a special page for one year.
    3. Three slots above the fold on one side of the page for one month. One link + 25 words. Top slot is $500. If they want to renew, I drop the price to the second slot price. I get about four or five buyers for the top slot every year.
These I use on one specific site. I have other sites, however, that I know I'd never be able to get the prices I do in #3 above. Payment is made through ClickBank. Never had a refund request for my ad slots.
