Default I'm A Noob Doing My First Site Flip & Need Help!

Question: How do I transfer the physical site to the buyer?

I know how to transfer the Domain Name, but not the actual site.

Any help is welcome and appreciated!

Oh, BTW, if you do respond please list detailed steps. I'm a noob at this so please don't assume I know what you're talking about, Thanks!

You create a backup of the site in zip format.

Ask your host to zip the site/folder for you and deliver it that way.
If the site uses databases then you'll have to back that up as well.

For the best solution, simply ask your hosting support!

Due to many people asking questions about how to transfer sites from one host to another after they sell a site, I've updated my Flip Ace product to include very detailed instructions on how to do this with many screenshots.

But I've also created that portion of the ebook as a standalone ebook that I'm giving away here on the Warrior Forum for free ... no opt-in required.

You can download it at http://flipace.com/transfer.pdf

I hope you find it useful and complete.

Wouldnt you want to set the site up on their server?

I'm sure you could charge for this service, and as a buyer, I would see it fully working on my site...

send the zipped folder to the buyer
and contact your regiter - godaddy.com or whoever to change ownership

of them some support even if you are not sure yourself - you can find most answers on you tube

you will then get good feedback

Most buyers are actually savvy enough to do it on their own, but yes you should always offer to do it for them. Most good hosting companies would be glad to do the transfer.

For static sites (just pages without any database involved) it's as simple as downloading the entire site and re-uploading it to the new hosting account.

When database is involved (such as WordPress), you will need to do backup of the database as well and then restore it. For this, you will probably want to refer to tutorials like below:

Moving WordPress WordPress Codex

Most of my buyers are not in the least bit savvy and do need someone to transfer the site to them. Occasionally I get a savvy buyer that wants to do it themself.

Hi Suzanne,

Does your ebook address the issue of transferring a site that has a database (like Wordpress)?

The site I'm going to be selling is a Wordpress site that is hosted by HostGator.

Thanks NK!

You and another Warrior mentioned databases and that is something I didn't think about. The site I want to flip is a Wordpress site so I'm glad you gave me these tutorials!

Ditto. Sold hundreds of sites and only about 1% know anything about transferring the site.

I have a few videos at Exclusive Custom Blog – Installation And Setup | Unique Turnkey Websites that might help - they are geared specifically toward my sites but some of the stuff applies to any site.

Perhaps because I've not sold as much and have been fortunate to have gotten tech savvy buyers so I assumed most others are the same, my bad
