NEVER trust a skinny chef!

This is my new motto in life(borrowed from Ryan Deiss) when I am looking for people to learn from in IM, there are too many IM teachers out there that only make money in IM by teaching other people how to do IM without doing it themselves. So from now on, I am going to buy from people I know have been successful in other niches BEFORE they decided to teach what they know

I would recommend the same to everyone else

Will be interesting to know your views

That's a good thought. The only way you really learn how something works is to do it or see it yourself.

That old saw has been around for ages, and for good reason!

It just so happens I have an uncle that was an executive chef at some of the best resorts in the world. Let's just say you would find him VERY trustworthy in reference to the post title.

I've got nothing against chefs with quick metabolisms, it's just the ones who don't trust their own cooking that really get my goat

I'm on this one guys list who I've always been suspicious of whether he was/been in any other niches and he made a video about a strategy he tried in his acne niche (the video was promoting an affiliate product) and in each slide he mentioned it in he spelt it 'achne' I mean come on! if you were really in that niche you would know how to spell the darn word!!!

Wow, someone is actually going to do due diligence before buying a product!

Good for you...it can be hard to separate the contenders from the pretenders though. It can take time. You might want to apply your rule to products over a certain price point. If you spend two hours trying to figure out if a guy selling a $17 product is legit, you don't value your time very much.

And as another old saw goes...if you don't value your time, you won't do much with it.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

I have a chef that comes to my house and does my private parties. He is one of the skinniest people I know. One night after a few drinks we started hassling him about why he was so skinny. Turns out he has Crohn's disease. Boy did I feel bad.

In other words make sure you do your research LOL

While you're at it, be sure to ask the waiter where he likes to eat.

Sometimes the restaurant owners would get mad at me because if a special was terrible, I wouldn't recommend it. I would tell them to stay away from it actually. LOL

That reminds me of this girl behind the cash register. I asked where she was from as she had a beautiful accent. She replied, "IT IS A SPEECH IMPEDIMENT!"

Moral of the story: "Never judge a book by its cover."

Some of the skinniest people I've known could pack away the calories. I hate them all and hope they suffer the torments of the damned when their time on Earth is over.

Try feeding them lots of chocolates! That's my downfall.

But then I feel the need to dance and will dance for hours because it doesn't feel like actually excercising, and I'm burning away all the extra calories, and umm, I'm going to shut up now before you hate me.:p

LOL this thread is very cliche.

But I have to agree with Brad, do your research, don't just assume or judge the book by it's cover.

I have had 5 children and most can't believe I've had one.

Then there is my youngest daugher who is the tiniest little dainty 32 lb 4 year old, who can out eat her 5 and 6 year old brothers hands down, from her size you'd think she never eats, her teachers now joke about it because she can eat 3-4 bowls of speghetti at a sitting etc, and still weighs just 32 lbs.

So the real question is, how do you make sure the "Guru" or person selling the how to make money in IM, has actually made any money in other niches?
Most people don't want to divulge what niche (s) they are making money in as they want to protect that part of their income and not have it get too saturated.
So how do you go about proving they have been successful?

One thing I did before I made a decision to buy a product from a so-called "Guru" was insert his name in Google along with the word "scam" and then saw what popped up. It seems customers are nice enough to look out for the best interests of other customers by giving warning regarding whether a seller is a scammer or not.
I was getting a mad amount of emails from a great big seller with a great big product. When I researched his product, there was not a single positive review for what he was offering. He basically had scammer written all over him by disgruntled customers.
Now I realize there's the possibility that maybe some don't take action and just give up quickly without implementing the methods fully but 99.9% of reviewers can't be wrong! Surely not!

This reminds me of a story I heard. This woman went to Gandhi to ask for advice on how to get her son off sugar. Gandhi told her to come back in a week and he would have the answer for her.

The woman asked, "why a week."

Gandhi replied, "I will need that much time to get off sugar myself."

I see what you're saying but surely 'marketing is marketing' regardless of the niche. The principles are the same .. regardless?

Plus I'd say for the most part, the IMers who 'made it' in other niches made relatively little compared to what they earn in IM.
