Any non-writers making money?

At one point, I loved to write. However, as of late, I don't really care for it as much as I did. I am wondering....has that happened to anyone else here? If so, have you still been able to make money?

I've stopped taking clients. My income is in the toilet, but slowly recovering... and I'm pretty sure it will rebound eventually. It just has to be important enough to you that you can keep saying "no" when clients show up and you're broke with a bunch of bills coming due.

I love to write. I've loved to write since I first learned how.

But to be brutally honest with you... I don't blame you. My life's passion is NOT writing 500-word articles for $10 bucks a piece, or "writing for keywords" in general. To me, that's grunt work. Yes, I've done it, yes, I've made money, and yes I'll still do it for previous clients who ask even though I'm no longer advertising it.

I like writing BOOKS. Not ebooks (though they do make $$$$$), but good old-fashioned paper-bound BOOKS. Fiction. Nonfiction. First person. Omniscient. Whatever.

I also like writing journals, and kept online journals for years. Now, I've turned my focus onto one that I make money with.

Maybe it's time to find another stream of income, or find another way to channel your passion. There are plenty of people here who make money without doing all the hard labor of writing (they either avoid it or get around it by outsourcing). There are plenty of ideas, just look around... Good luck

Theres more ways to make money than to write. but if you were good at it, try keeping it up, and charging others to write for them....

And a sort of parallel question -

Are non-writers who offer services here in WF making money? You know, like graphics and website design, video production, voiceover work, commenting, back linking, etc.?

I've read over and over that if a member would like to kickstart a fast cash surge, the best way is to offer services. But what if they're talented in other things besides churning out words? Not everybody's a writer.

I got my start offering services, but they certainly weren't writing! I started offering keyword and domain research (client would give me a niche and we'd narrow down a sub- or micro-niche and then I'd find them good keywords and a TLD), blog setup cheat sheets, organizational spreadsheets...things that people needed but definitely not any articles or ebooks.

I enjoy writing, but not for money.

Well if you think you are very good in writing... you can keep it up. If clients are happy with your work then you will surely continue earning. That is basically on how you would be able to give them the content that they need and of course if you abide by their criteria or requirements for writing their articles. You can use that talent of yours in other forms as well.. You can make your own blogs and share what you have learned, your insights and others. You can earn from your own skills.

For me it is easier when I am writing about a diverse range of subjects. I can't say I like the idea of writing 20 articles on one subject in one sitting, but writing about different subjects has really expanded my knowledge base.
It's been an earn as you learn situation for me!

I can understand getting tired of it sometimes if you've been at it for years.
Had you thought about a different type of writing? Films, television etc (a different beast I know as I have dabbled!)

As far as services go there are always tons of Warriors offering the type of services you mentioned, so they are obviously making something.
Just take a bit of time to look around and see what you fancy doing.

  • Like others here, I make my living writing. I have been a journalist for over ten years, and now, after being laid off, I have started freelancing. Sure, it can be overwhelming but if you are good at it then there is good money to be made there.

However, I do understand that for some people it can get tedious, tiresome and even boring. My advice is, think about other things you are knowledgeable in, see if you can make money off of that. You may also want to do a little research in order to compare where else you can make money online. You can start by reading through other threads here at WF and other forums. You will be surprised to find that TONS of people are making money in many different ways.

However, do keep your eyes open, there are a lot of scam artists out there. Remember that if a program is asking you to spend money in order to make money, it very likely is a scam. Good Luck.

Of course, a lot of people make money without writing - does not matter whether they can write or not.

See, as an Internet Marketer, your job is not to write but to do marketing. Since many of us do not have the buffer to procure material to marketm they take to writing. I am saying this in spite of being an article writer.

If you are on Warrior Forum, then I am sure you would love to take an interest in Marketing - there are great marketing minds at work in this forum - some of the best in the world when it comes to online marketing.
