I want to find out what words people use to search for body spas in Toronto only. Is that possible?

I have the task of SEOing a friends website. The business is a spa - it's in London, Ontario, Canada.

First i want to find out what words people in London are using when they search for spas. Is it possible to limit my keyword research like that? And if so, how do i do it?

Thanks!

  • Looks like a very small and very competitive niche.

Add +keyword to your other keyword searches. spa +Toronto gave me 12 results. Low volume very high competition.

People search geographically by city name and sub keywords.

Best thing you can do is get in Google Local Search. Make sure you have an address and zip codes and contact information.

make sure you appear on searches on Google Maps.

    Get on Supplier link lists.

Wow thanks! I've never tried to rank locally so i had no idea about Google Local Search - I thought showing in that listing was just based on regular SEO...

So is there a similar link for showing up in Google Maps? Or will the Google local search listing cause the google map listing to happen?

Thanks so much for your help! And I should mention that the spa is actually in London Ontario which is causing more issues since "spas london" pulls listings for the UK... fun, fun...

Go to google keywords and type in "Spa"

Find all the derivatives of spa that people are searching for.

Copy those to a .txt file.

        Go here:

Combine Words Keyword Combination Tool for Pay Per Click PPC - Google Adwords and Yahoo! Search Marketing Overture

In one box paste your keywords.
In the other box write down every suburb, subdivision and area name of Toronto.

        Combine the words.

Run those through market samurai (which is free for 12 days) to find out the search volume and competition for each.

Find out the keywords with the highest volume and lowest competition.

        Use those.

This is the exact strategy I use with our companies videos for marketing. Works VERY well as the more you drill down the more likely they're in a buying scenario and the easier it is to rank.

As an example. I currently rank #3 for "Henry county dentist"... I could have put "Georgia Dentist" and had a MUCH bigger fight ahead of me and it would have been useless because statistically people rarely drive more than 20 minutes to get to their dentist.

        So target each suburb's name.

        Cheers & goodluck
