Warrior Techs.....I Need A Quick Tip

Just had my wireless internet connection crap out on me while in the middle of some important work!

Had to lose the work while shutting down and restarting the computer.

I'm using Windows Vista (yeah, I know it's crude) and want to know if there is a way to reset the wireless card without completely rebooting the computer. There should be a way to do this, but of course there is no docs on this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What kind of computer do you have? Usually there is a keystoke set that can allow you to turn on and off the wireless. It might be in the computer docs, not windows vista docs.

    Chris:

I'm not looking to just turn it on and off, but reset the drivers to the wireless card itself.

Don't use Vista as it's almost as bad as Millennium which was Microsoft's little joke on the Windows community. Here's the instructions for XP though so should be similar.

Right-click on "My Computer" select "Properties" then "Hardware" then "Device Manager", right-click on your wireless card under "Network Adapters" and select "uninstall". Then right click on your computer name at the top and select "Scan for hardware changes".

This will reload the drivers without the need for rebooting.

Yeah, I already know that. I've been using it pre loaded onto a laptop, and after a year I'm totally ready to beat the development team with a shoe.

Can't go back to XP because there are no drivers for this laptop (Vista was pre loaded), and Windows7 has memory leak issues, so going forward isn't too cool either until that gets fixed.

Will attempt to see if your idea solves my dilemna.
