  • I have several email addresses. One for my social networks, one for opt ins, one for private messages, one for business, and various addresses for various campaigns I run.

Saves time when I want to quickly go through the in-boxes

I probably have around 50 or more eMail addresses. I check about 30 of them regularly. I do sort them out for different purposes.

I have one I set up last fall for two specific lists in a specific niche. I did that only because I knew there would be a fair amount of mail coming from them; one sends daily and the other sends weekly. So, I wanted to keep that separate from my other eMail.

And that eMail has received a smattering of spam. Not much, but the fact that it gets any has me wondering. That eMail is not listed anywhere and isn't a dictionary word either. So, that does lead me to wonder how spammers got a hold of it.

As a result, I may be setting up more eMail accounts for future lists I join. Maybe one eMail per list so that I may have a better idea if someone is, perhaps, selling the address.

It is handy to have more than one, while being in the internet marketing business

Well, I have my primary address that I've had for 14 years.

Then, I'll have different customer service eMails for different websites, and within those I may have different eMail addresses for different areas.

I'll have eMail addresses for managing groups of websites.

I have eMails set up for certain lists, especially for discussion lists. Discussion lists frequently have a lot of incoming mail, so I'll use separate eMail addresses for those.

I have other eMail addresses which serve specific purposes. One example is a subscription I get through eMail that goes to a dedicated address. Other eMail addresses are only shared with certain people so I can keep discussions with them in a convenient place.

And none of those include forwarding addresses.

I normally use a 2nd email address rather than my primary. Thank you for asking.

When I put my name into an email list I usually put my name followed by the initials of the website that I'm signing up to - so I can trace what they're doing with my email address

      That's a great idea.
I have one email address that i never use for sign ups, optins whatever and i still get spam emails. The best part is they all use headings such as REayment Received/Your order/Collect Your Commission/Remember me. I wish there was a way to get back at these spammers.

      actually that's pretty smart hecky...
I usually use one primary and a few secondary. The primary is only for the top notch programs and the secondary is anything else

How do you do that and still get the email? Surly you don't create new email addresses for each one. I would love to know how this is done.

I go even further, signing with the target website name, so mails look like "Dear <website that's sending emails> ... " and yes, i use a designated email for signing up to lists, and i check it from time to time.

That sounds like a good idea, but a lot of the spammers seem to not use the names, just the email addresses.

I over-complicate everything i do so needless to say, I have an elaborate email system that i am about to refine once again.

I own too many domains, so I periodically create a new forwarding account for signing up for freebies. Then I unsubscribe from the affiliate-of-the-day lists and change my email settings for the aweber accounts of marketers I actually find useful. Some autoresponders only offer unsubscribe links and I unsubscribe from lists I would rather change email addresses on.

As time goes on, I eventually unsubscribe from all but the emails that have been sold to spammers or with parties who make it next to impossible to unsubscribe. Then I delete that forwarding account.

More recently I created an account for paid subscriptions so I don't unsubscribe. And I am working up a new system where I will actually use a different email program for handling only Internet Marketing.

I recently set criteria to what I sign up for so i don't enroll in every JV etc. When I get the new email system in place, I will carefully move paid subscriptions over and then unsubscribe from all the older lists. I will create an even newer email address for all sign ups after that date.

My email programs are good at sorting out the emails according to name, etc. But I find that rather than do all that sorting, I just move all the read email into a common folder. Then I can sort the list by sender and scan through the emails. If I find the sender talks more about other affiliate products that his own promotion or than offering good advice, I unsubscribe and delete his emails.

Lately, there seems to be a trend of 'sloppy' email sending. I get emails 'OMG I should have sent this earlier, now you are running out of time' followed by 'OMG I forgot to say this about it." followed by "OMG I sent the wrong link, click this one." followed by "Did you get my email promoting xyz?" followed by 'Did you respond yesterday, you still have a little time left." --- I unsubscribe! If you can't at least resemble a little professionalism, you don't need my business. I can accept a mistake, but seriously, six or more marketers making similar mistakes repeatedly on the same products at the same time?

Sorry, i get off my soap box.

    I DO I DO I DO

If you have a list that I must join for some reason... it's going to my junk hotmail account and it'll never be read.

I know the game and I could care less about the latest n' greatest whatever it is that somebody just has to email me about to let me know that I have to buy it now! now! now!

So, why not click the unsubscribe link and free up the autoresponder slot, not to mention the marketer's cost.

I would have different gmail address to sign up to list so that it will not be mixed with important personal or customer email.

Personally, having a separate email address for business, work, research and other activity will make it more organized and manageable.

I have 2. One for the quickie signups; the other is where I switch the "want to read" newsletters.

The quickie one has over 20K emails, 99% of which I haven't opened but have just marked as read...

I have several, some I leave standing alone, some I have forwarded into a few main ones. I group them for the importance and quantity of what I'm receiving.

It's so funny, some Marketers who claim to have
thousands of subscribers are actually never opened
and in some alternative email account.

Tracking which mail is actually open is the only way
to be accurate, but they won't admit it.
