Creating Article Directory Is Profitable or Not Now Days?

There are too many article directory sites and every day new sites pouring. I know that it is not easy to run article directory site. You can create such site, but it is very hard to promote and get response. If you get response then it is very hard to maintain high quality content on your website. In this situation I want to know if article directory is porfitable or not now days?

I suspect that you will be much better off if you niche it down.

If you think you are going to be able to compete with a general article directory like ezinearticles, you will get smoked.

However, I think there would be place for say, a web master article directory, or an internet marketing article directory.

Daniel, You have given valuable advice to niche it down. You have given which niche I should follow. This is great tip, and I will follow it for sure. I think by creating article directory we get fresh content at no cost. Now work remains to check it if it is good or not. I think we have to do that much of work, otherwise we can't get success. Thanks Dan again.

Hi there. And yes article directories websites were, are and will be always profitable. But do you have time to spend on promoting it, checking the content that others will be submitting? If yes go for it if not do not. Simple.

I agree with Daniel. Be specific. I created an article directory that is based on the url (Why Do ... ?). When you submit an article that begins with that prefix then placing in the search engines is much easier.

Find a niche or unique angle and it will be easier.

We created an article directory months ago and got traction with our own customers through an article marketing training program, where we would include our directory as one of the main article sites to submit to. We purchased a script for the article site but the problem was it wasn't very search engine friendly and indexing was slow. I'll agree with Daniel and niche out the directories if you're looking for better results.

That was my concern when I was considering going with a template or creating my own unique site, I chose the latter and I am glad I did (for SEO purposes).

Yes, it is possible, but I don't think it's worth it. There are much
easier ways to make money if you ask me. Your call mate.

Agree with Deniel. It is better to be niche specific. It will really need so much time on promoting, building backlinks etc. Once you get some more exposure and good PR, people will automatically start submitting articles to your directory. For example if you get PR5 then you don't have to think about it. It will be run automatically. Of course it is not so easy to get PR5, but it can be done. Only it will take time and hard work.
