Link Creation Procedures on WF Posts

I hate to break down and show my ignorance but I've been unable to find an answer to this question on the WF site.

I tried a suggestion that my webmaster sent me in a post on the "test" forum but it was unsuccessful.

QUESTION:

I've noticed when people make posts on WF threads instead of copying and pasting a complete link they sometimes create a special link.

For instance, instead of inserting http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ing-forum.html in a thread to link to anther thread they might create a link that reads This Thread

Would someone please show me how to do this?

I tried using: <a href="http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ing-forum.html "> This Thread </a> but it didn't work on the test thread.

Thanks in advance

    Hi Ernie,

While you are making a post -

Type the word you want to use as the anchor - EG - this is a link

    Then highlight that text

Then click the icon above which has the title 'insert link' when you hover, and looks like a globe with a chain-link on it.

Insert the url into the pop up box and click 'OK'

    Which gives you -

    this is a link

    ...................

    OR -

If you don't see that icon (and others) in the icons just above where you are writing (on the posting interface), then you need to go into your forum settings and select 'enhanced interface' - to do this you need to -

click 'user cp' (far left of the top horizontal menu bar of the forum)

then 'edit options' (from the drop down menu)

then on that page scroll all the way down to 'miscellaneous options' and select 'enhanced interface full WYSIWYG editor' from the drop down menu and click 'save'

    ...........

Also, if you look at the main forum top horizontal menu bar, you'll see the link FAQ which leads here, which is quite useful ;-)

Thanks for the insight. I changed the settings to "enhanced"

This has been frustrating because I checked the faq page repeatedly and couldn't find anything explaining how to do this. Now ...... to see if this works as I make this post.

      Thanks again,

      Ernie

Another way is to simply paste the link in, then hit the Go Advanced button. The software will create the link and link text, then you can simply replace the link text with what you want.

If you're already on the advanced screen when you paste in the link, hit the Preview button to update the preview, then edit the link text.

You can also enter the raw BB code manually. Click the link for BB Code in the bottom left corner of the page to learn how to use it.

    Hello Dennis,

Thank you for the heads up on the BB code "how-to" link at the bottom of the page. I've never delved into code --- probably should have but was always busy with other stuff so I always left it up to Sally (WebGalSal) to sort through all that stuff.

    Thks again,

    Ernie
