Created my first product!

Congratulations on taking action and taking a GIANT step forward in your online business.

Any one of us can produce our own infoproducts - it really is just a matter of identifying demand, looking for (or proving through testing) buyer potential, and organizing/laying out the information in the proper way to make you stand out from your competition.

This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, in any case, you have a product that you can sell over and over again for months - even years.

Assume the next step is to go all out on marketing your new ebook. Lots of potential there, especially for a topic like yours.

Congrats! I'm about to release my first product in about a week or so. I ran into just about every obstacle there is to get this product out. It suppose to of been released April 27th, but didn't make that deadline.

This has definitely been a learning experience for me, but it's been a lot of fun. Now I know how to prevent those mistakes so my next product launch will be a lot smoother...

your first product creation always comes with such challenges.

challenges are actually a blessing in disguise you learnt the curves, it cant happen again, that's a promotion from that to the unknown

Congrats octobergal, that's awesome!

Consider running a wso of your own (if it meets the requirements, i.e., not PLR as a source, etc.) or a classified ad to sell even more.

You've taken action and that's where most fall down - they never get there.

Now that you're on this side of the mountain, transition into observing and tweaking. Watch how it sells, any refunds and why, percentages of conversions, and track everything you can to improve, tweak and optimize.

In the mean time (not that you won't be busy with all the above) build as much of a list as you can and starting working on that follow-up project - it's always easier to sell to someone that has already purchased from you than a new customer.

Congrats octobergal!
I've just finished my first infoproduct in English (I'm Italian) so I can understand how you fill yourself!
There're a lot of thing to do: the sales letter, the product, the site, the order processor and so on.. just not mentioning all the tests to do....
BUT, at the end, when you finished, you are HAPPY.. and it's a great sensation!!

Just be careful with the "unqualified medical advice" content. You are probably pretty safe with the "one dieter to another" angle, but I would still add a disclaimer at the bottom to the effect of.......

"This website does not provide professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and is not meant as a substitution of a health care professional."

I just came up with that off the top of my head, but it provides more protection than having nothing.

It's a great feeling knowing that I put all my hard work into writing my weight loss ebook, it came from my heart. I just followed the directions in the WSO and found it very easy to do. Then I followed instructions on driving traffic to my site, bought some more WSO's and am using a few different marketing methods right now and will try out more as time goes on. Congrats and Thanks for the great tip! I've also recently just created my First Product with a useful concept and method I've been using to get social bookmarks, facebook fans, facebook application users, and small tasks for prices so cheap you won't believe!

Launching it now as a WSO hopefully it'll be as successful as yours. I also poured everything I knew into it and put a lot of effort took me about month or so to finally finish it after procrastinating!

If this is successful I also have another ebook I want to write about. I'm thinking of flipping it after a month though. Do you think that is advisable?

First off, congrats on your achievement. I think it is great what you accomplished. Do have a question for you.

Are you finding that your product sells better at $17 versus another price point or is that where you started with the price? I'm interested because so many products try to sell at the $37 or $47 price point when they would actually do better at a lower price of $17 as you have your product selling for.

Sometimes I think the higher price is required in order to have money to pay affiliates.

As far as the price, I just started with $17, I haven't tested other prices. So far I'm not finding it to be a problem, but I'm also not paying affiliates.

First of all congratulations about taking action and creating your own product. You have already proved that you are willing to deliver on your goals as opposed to just dreaming about it.

Now for the next step. Getting a TON of traffic and making a TON of sales

I do have a couple of pieces of advice that I would like to add after taking a look at your sales page - I presume the website in your signature is it right?

Think of the potential benefit that you are providing for customers - A new image, a role model to others, more confidence in themselve, healthier etc etc. This is worth more than $17. In fact when I first look at something selling for $17 I instantly assume the quality is lower than something selling for $47 or more. Also remember that You have to sell 3 times as much product to make the same amount of money as if you were selling it for $47.

But only testing will tell you the true answer.

3. Hire a professional copy writer. You have gone to all the time and effort to create a good product, you now have to do it justice by creating a salespage that is worthy. Something that will make customers really want to pull out their credit cards and buy. If you don't have the money right now, then take a look at sales pages in your niche and learn from them. Increasing your conversion rate from 1% to 2% will double your income from the same amount of traffic.

I hope you find my advice useful. Take it or leave it, it's up to you

Thanks so much for your advice Christian. I have pictures in the book, but I will see about adding them to the website and when I get some testimonials putting them on there, as well.

I was going to originally start the price off at $27, but decided not to, maybe I should change it back. The book details everything I did exactly, plus sample menus and recipes.

I actually had someone from here write the sales copy, but I did want to change a few things to make it "pop" more to the reader. I'll take a look at some other site in my niche and see what I can do.

I found I had the same problem. I finally had to stop being so analytical and just go with it, otherwise it might never get finished. It's your first product, finish it and just get it out there. I wish you success!

You are right - MANY of us have brilliant WSOs that will make
us a lot of money, but guess what - they are still gathering dust,
either in our brains or worse, in our PCs.

I think we all need to read Bryan Kumar's free report, titled:
$50,000 before December, My Plan" I especially liked the first
part which talked about "Using Existing Resources"

It's a REALLY brilliant report and I learned a whole lot from it.
