Is there a difference between google adwords and their keyword tool? I put the same thing in both but got different results and it shows slightly different pages. Here I used the same term but got these results... adwords: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/9769/adwordsr.jpg keyword tool: http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7691/keyword.jpg I'm actually REALLY confused when it comes to keywords in general. How do you "own" a keyword? What does that mean? How do you take a keyword and use it to put your site on top of a search engine? Thanks in advance. |

Did you do the same search on both? What I mean did both of these tools offer a choice for exact, phrase for example? This could be why.

I just put 1 word into both of them and those are both the top results.

To be honest I have no clue. I just the same word into both and saw hugely different results. :O Sorry if my ignorance is making this difficult lol

Go to Google.com and type in ipad and look at the search results. Then type "ipad" (include quotes) and you are going to get less. My guess this is what is happening. One of these is giving you a phrase search or exact search. |

I actually got the same amount of results doing that (110,000,000 for ipad with and without quotes). is that not normal? I thought quotes only applied to a phrase. But on the google tools, I didn't change any settings. I just put them in the "word or phrase" boxes.

Try typing: allintext:ipad this will tell Google that you want to see all websites that have this phrase in it. Be careful if you do this to much, Google will enable you to do this for a few hours or more. Stupid Quote:

Is there a difference between adwords and the keyword tool? And what does the bid price mean? Do you actually pay for keywords? I'm really confused on the whole subject tbh, and the more I read about it seems like the more confusing it gets...
