ClickBank refund beyond 60 days?

by Raydal
10 replies
One customer asked for a refund beyond the 60 day 'limit'
and I was surprised that ClickBank issued the refund.

Anyone else had a similar issue?

I answered the ticked with the effect that it was beyond
the guarantee but this made no difference.

Ray, the reason they'll honor it (not that I agree) is because if they don't
the customer will do a chargeback with their credit card and chargebacks
kill Clickbank. In fact, if you get too many of these, they'll close your
    account.

So that 60-day guarantee that they require means nothing then?

Might as well place "FREE" next to every ClickBank buy link.

Pretty much. Like I said...I don't agree with it, but it is what it is.

Another reason to love Clickbank so much.

At least with PayPal, if it's beyond 60 days, they won't honor the request.

well i don't think that paypal loves chargebacks either...so I think they would also honor the request...not sure about that though..

No, they don't...but at least they'll honor their refund ceiling of 60 days.

In fact, if you go to a sale of yours that is more than 60 days old, the
refund sale link won't be available. If you want to send the person the
money, you have to do it through the send money option.

Funny how paypal is morphing into the pro-business merchant system. I've ditched authorize.net and went with web payments pro and I'm actually liking the system. I have reduced my fraud flags to 0. I've never had a chargeback so that was never my issue with authorize, but I feared it certainly.

Visa and Mastercard have 120 day time limit for chargebacks so Clickbank's 60 guarantee is not very useful from that perspective, though I do expect most buyers will contact me rather than go directly to Clickbank. Those that do go directly to CB are just fraudsters that know their system.

Paypal is also a joke now if you sell digital products. You NO LONGER have seller protection for frivolous claims. See copy directly from their site below.

      ====================

PayPal provides coverage to U.S. account holders for eligible transactions in the event of an unauthorized payment or item-not-received claims, chargebacks, and reversals. To be eligible for PayPal Seller Protection:

      • The transaction must be marked eligible or partially eligible for Seller Protection on the Transaction Details page.
      • The item must be shipped within 7 calendar days of receiving payment to the shipping address on the Transaction Details page, and in accordance with our shipping requirements.
      • In the event a buyer files a claim, you need to respond to our request for documents and other information in a timely manner.
      • The item must be a physical, tangible good that can be shipped.Your primary residence, as listed in your PayPal account, must be in the United States.
      What's not covered

      • Items picked up locally or delivered in person
      • Services, intangible items, and digital goods
      • Claims and chargebacks where the buyer says that the shipped item is significantly not as described

You would think with a solid 60-day return policy which they make us put front and center in our pitch-page they could fight any charge-back attempt.

I have one customer who filed a PayPal dispute for a refund (never contacted me, I was notified by PayPal about the dispute) well after the 60 day time-frame so PayPal denied it. So the scumbag issued a charge-back with his credit card. Again PayPal let me know what was going on but they were going to fight it with the dope's credit card company.

In the end he lost the charge-back claim, PayPal did not refund him. And this was all over $19.95! I would have just refunded to get this dirt bag out of my life but PayPal stuck to their guns so I was happy they did.

It's a bit shocking with the sales volume Clickbank generates that they don't have the cajones to stand by their refund policy.

    Ray,

"60-day guarantee that they require means nothing". Not necessarily. I have
been told that if YOU offer a guarantee longer that 60 days, Clickbank will
consider it a violation of THEIR TOS.

What about the goose and the gander?
