I was just thinking about this for myself since it is one of mines birthday on Friday.

What small gifts can we get outsource employee?

    The only guy I outsource on a regular is millions of miles away.

    So the only thing I can offer is a bit of extra cash on his usual wage.

      My wife and I anniversary falls on one of our employees birthday (Customer support, so I am the back up ). I always tell her she can have the day off, but I think they are soo happy. Last year she like a week before said I will doing laundry at home so you guys enjoy your anniversary and I will work. I thought that was pretty cool...

      Here is the truth - treat them well, you will pay less, get more productivity and everyones happy

    Here is a hint on outsourcing, always talk Peso with them, it shows them you are polite and if they start understanding US money, they have likely gone through enough jobs and would cost more.

    I asked some of my guys in India about this once. They were really into music, although that may be changing considering how easy it is to download music these days.

    I've also found that any kind of US products that aren't available in whatever country the worker is in, like candy or some other low-priced novelty, work well.

    If you have people in Philippines, then they have a custom to get 1/2 salary after 6 months of working and 1 month full salary after 12 months of working.

    You can also buy some gadgets for them, which are very high priced there in there country.

    If the outsourced person's payable amount is $190, I'll give $200
    If the outsourced person's payable amount is $242, I'll give $250
    If the outsourced person's payable amount is $92, I'll give $100

    That's good enough from me. Just round up and pay. It's already a good gift.

    Usually, I just send an extra chunk of cash for a job well done or a birthday. For example, I once worked with a minisite designer who charged around $87 for a basic site. After completing four or five jobs for me, I sent him a $50 to motivate and thank him (I imagine it's a chunk of cash in China).

    On the other hand, it also meant I expected him to answer my e-mails and be available on weekends
