Site Load Speed is definitely a consideration and it should be... If the public is abandoning sites that don't load fast enough, why should google present such sites to us?

On the other hand, some things are worth waiting for.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

With video taking over, its not too much of a problem these days (IMO).

I do however enjoy fast loading pages that look good. I don't like 90's looking sales letters and scripts!! Even if they take a little bit longer

Im glad to see load speed playing a factor. If you dont care enough about your business and sites to optimize them and take the necessary steps to make it load at a decent speed then you shouldn't be running a web site.

Its definitely a factor since the first of the year. I've done some tests and proved that the faster your load times the better your rank with all other variables being even.

With the increase in high speed internet service this is becoming less important not more.

Of course there is a limit. If you page is noticeably slow then there could be problems.

Page speed load times should be fast to increase your current visitors experience, rather than focusing on increasing it to get more visitors from the search engines. I think focusing on making your user experience as good as it can be is a much better idea than optimizing anything for the search engines.

Of course doing both is always the best

I'm a great fan of video content and Google probably hates me for it (squeeze page=around 30mb in size!) I stopped worrying about Google traffic a long time ago.
