Ok so I have been working on this site and I have been gradually getting more and more visits and i have even gotten some clicks from adsence. But I am not selling anything I get great comments but I get no sales. I have put the site on WF a couple times to tweak and I have done what was needed but still not working. Am I doing something wrong or i should wait or I have no clue can someone give me there opinion it is greatly appreciated.

  • I couldn't even tell something was for sale. To me, that website looked like just a blog someone had made for a hobby that has an advert on the side.

Best piece of advice that I've heard in the world of IM (i'd call this a rule of thumb):

    * You need to give people information that they need, then sell them what they want.

In other words, very very very briefly touch on a couple of things that might help them (in hardly any detail at all). You need try to make people aware of something but they don't quite understand it fully, this then becomes a want. As soon as they have this want ("i want to know more about this...etc") then throw them a quick hint about something where they can find this (in that ebook).

But, as mentioned, make sure they have the information they need to know as this could result in your website being deemed as awful and a waste of time.

As always, go for the soft sell. Try to make them not be aware that this is the real intention of this informative blog.

Very well said. I think many over think the 'selling piece' and forget why people come to sites in the first place. They come for something other than to be sold.

    Hi,

just had a quick look at it.

what I see... you are giving a lil bit too much information. People who read your blog posts will take some time out to understand, digest and put in practice the info...

when you are writing to sell, you use a different layout for your articles.

you give just a tease, and in the same article say that the rest of the info is in the ebook.

from the reader perspective it is annoying, but so far is what converts better.

and you might want to add some success stories, they can be like typical success stories, or as letters with thank you comments. They have to be real.

Also, you can engage the visitor, by letting them make questions.

the squeeze is really lost out there on the side... if you manage to make people jump into the squeeze, you can send out articles and press over the ebook over time. What report are you giving for free? it is not very clear.

Sorry... maybe it is much more than what you asked for.

    Sandra

You are trying to appeal to the intellect of someone in an emotional space.

You know the old saying about how nobody ever wanted a quarter-inch drill bit, they wanted a quarter-inch hole?

Nobody wants to get pregnant. They want to have a baby.

They don't give a rat's arse about how many other people want one or how hard they try or what the success rate is for them.

This is about me and my partner and our baby.

Agreed... Your content is talking AT them, rather than TO them. It reads a little too much like a textbook.

I would start by empathizing with them, saying something like "Are you having trouble getting pregnant? So are 90 million other couples around the world," instead of "Statistics reveal that nearly 90,000,000 couples around the world and 11 million couples in the United States are trying to get pregnant."

It's a nice site, but I agree with Daniel, I can't really tell you're selling anything.

    Couple of advice bits:
    1. An email list is most important - put the optin form above your ad, and explicitly explain what the free report offers the visitor
    2. Fix up the copy in your ad. "I thought I was infertile" doesn't say very much at all. You need to find the visitor's root, passionate problem, and design your ad accordingly. AND YOU MUST have a clear call to action. Even a "Learn more by clicking here" kinda button would be something
    3. Ensure your keywords and Adwords copy are pulling in your specific demographic. If your keywords or ads are not specifically hitting a visitors problem that your product can directly solve when they reach your site - you're wasting clicks.

    Hope this helps

I looked at the site and couldn't even figure out what is the purpose of the site - nothing has caught my eye. You need to make it EASY and CLEAR. If nothing catches visitor's eye within the first 30 seconds - they leave your site.

Describe the problem, then offer a solution... Make a clear call to action, like "Sign up here" or "Order now"... somewhere where I can see it.

If you are getting good traffic then leave the text of the page alone.

Add a really catchy exit pop-up sign-up form to give them something free. Then when they sign up for the PLR book or whatever, hit them with an up-sell.

If your traffic capture system is working then don't mess with it, just add a way to turn visitors into $$$

    Cheers,

I agree with Colin... I also have to say that I was reading through your site and it is very content rich. This is GOOD for SEO and SERPS purposes but at no point do I get the impression that you are selling something. Now that is a double edged sword. You are discussing a subject that can be rather touchy or sensitive for some women, particularly those who are trying to conceive and are having a hard time. This said, you have to remember a few things:

1- Since it is such a sensitive topic, you want to keep in mind that you are offering advice from a WOMAN'S point of view and that at NO point your ebook (or whatever else you are trying to sell) is a medical perspective.
2- You have to decide what you want to accomplish through your blog, is it to give FREE and heartfelt advice or TRY to make some money out of it. If it is the first one, you are well on your way. If it is the latter, then you have to think and write from a marketer's perspective. THINK, what is the main obstacle for women who are trying to get pregnant? Direct your sales copy at them. Speak to women who can not conceive, offer them options or solutions perhaps included in your ebook.
3- If you do not want to make your site about selling, you can always place a pop-up or squeeze page before people leave so that you can collect emails. This allows you to send them special offers, follow up with weekly tips and so on. Remember that studies have shown that it usually takes a person about 6-7 exposures to a product Ad, before they make a purchase. Therefore, consistency and persistence are crucial if you want to make a sale.

Finally, you may want to join other programs that will bring you in some cash if you have such decent traffic; consider Amazon and Commission Junction.

      Good luck!!!

Put some affiliate links into content with call to actions..make more paragraphs out of the articles..increase text size..put some subheadlines into articles..decrease the size of the header..

Where does your traffic coming from? As I can see, you have done a lot of bookmarks..if that is your only traffic source, then perhaps this is the reason for not getting the sales as well..

How many clickthroughs to merchant's site did you have? You can not conclude that something is not selling unless you send at least 1000 people to merchant site.

    Good luck : )

Try pink or blue. Put pictures of babies around. Green is good for a gardening site.

The site looks like it was built by a man. Women don't want to see sexy-looking pregnant women. They want to see babies, happy families. Don't sell the process, sell the solution.
