How do you get articles indexed quickly

What are the steps in getting your article indexed in a day or a few hours if possible. I'm submitting to digg and reddit. But that doesn't seem to be doing anything.

You can ping them, bookmark them, and even create RSS feeds out of the articles, and submit them and that usually speeds up indexing.

But, the real question should be - Why does it matter when they get indexed?

Most of the backlinks that you actually get credit for will never show up in the backlink tools, AND most things are indexed, but most people look at seeing the link in the backlink checking tools as the only verification of that.

If you type the URL of your article into the google search box, and it shows up in the results - It's indexed, yet it can take several weeks or even months for it to actually show up in the link checking tools.

In the time you spend trying to speed up the process of something that will happen naturally on it's own, you could have built a ton more links, written more articles, and driven more traffic to your site.

Getting backlinks indexed is not a profitable activity regardless of how you look at it.

Understood, and you are most definitely entitled to doing it however you see fit, I just thought I would expand on it a bit, and give you some other ways of looking at it.

There seems to be thousands and thousands of article directories. I don't think google is going to index every single article in every directory. The popular directories like ezine, articleblast, etc are going to get every article indexed, its no point messing about with pinging, RSS, etc.

But for the less popular ones, I am pinging and RSSing to help. If the article does not get indexed, at least I know which ones to avoid in the future as its a wasted effort.

My EZA articles are indexed so quickly that I do not need to do anything to them.

Create a manual RSS feed of all your article urls and upload to your domain.
Then ping that url at Pingler.com

RGallowitz that work awesome, I usually try to ping about 200 sites when I do it just to even out the numbers to a benifit.

Jeremy is right on the money with his advice on not worrying about how fast your articles get indexed. Google does a pretty fine job crawling the web so you can count on them finding your articles. When they do find them on their own it looks much more natural so is better for your seo. So concentrate on laying out the articles at a steady pace and you'll be more than fine.

Most of the article directories automatically ping the articles and send out the RSS feed. The easiest thing you can do is to bookmark them and do some other simple link building to the article and even if it would not speed up the indexing itself that much then in long run it will certainly help the article to rank better and get more views.

I disagree with some of you, how quickly my article gets indexed is of much value to me.

Take this week for example, I wrote an article on my blog concerning the 'Old Spice' campaign and why I think it went viral. Note this was an 'in' topic this week. It was an original piece and because it got indexed quickly and was in the popular media, I recieved a ton of attention (it seemed to rank well for certain phrases related to the 'Old Spice' ad). A lot of the people who caught my site signed up for my mailing list also, so great timing helped me.

So, of course sometimes having your articles indexed quickly is of great help.

I do not see why people are telling the OP'er not to worry about how long it takes, and simply to focus on content when they have no idea why they need it indexed quickly.

But to answer the question, I use Pingoat to ping my site instantly after I blog, and always post a few coments on some related sites. I found my article was indexed within 30 minutes of me posting the 'old spice' posting.

I guess I was assuming that it was a "regular" piece of content the same way you are assuming he is writing on the "topic of the week".

Also, almost anywhere that you submit articles - popular places anyway are going to have your article indexed within 24 hours anyway...well, the content will be indexed, the "link" may not get indexed, but your content will.

        .
Im not assuming, simply posting an alternative to what you already said.

He asked to be indexed quickly and I just wanted to show some people do actually want it indexed quickly.

When it comes to article marketing I like to err on the side of production by keeping my eyes forward and trained on the next piece of content I have to create. Earlier in my career I spent too much time pinging this and pinging that where the pinging became a full time job and my production rates dipped as a result. I can understand if you're only writing a few articles a week and you have time to ping everything. But pumping out 50 plus a week you just don't have the time to get proactive to help Google find an article they are already going to find anyways.

It shouldn't be too much to get your article indexed. Submit to stumble upon and then get a free stumble from me (see my signature). Then submit it to onlywire.

Write and submit articles to EZA and other article directories. Then one they are published, get their U.R.L's and start to bookmark and ping them (pingomatic and pingoat).
