I am an affiliate marketer trying to promote the landing page that was provided to me. Currently, when somone opts-in, they are sent to the vendor's main page with my affiliate code.

I would really like to start capturing these emails myself to start my "list." Can someone please show me how to do this?

Thanks,

Mike

P.S.- I suck at creating landing pages. I just can't write effective sales copy. Probably why I didn't get good grades in English class when I was in school.

Get an account at aWeber (aweber d com). You set up your optin and then when someone signs up you can designate which URL (webpage) they are taken to. So the user comes to your site, signs up on your list, you get their email, and then aWeber redirects them to the vendor's site via your affiliate link.

Writing sales copy is actually quite easy, you just have to answer this question: what is their (the prospects) pain?
If you are selling lawnmowers the pain might be their current lawnmower is unreliable, or the pain might be an unkempt yard. So, your sales copy would explain how the product you are promoting is going to solve that pain. Then just break it down into Features & Benefits:
Feature: 1 pull start on this lawnmower
Benefit: No more spending 10 minutes trying to get the thing started. You save time and frustration.

I have an associate who does (and is excellent at) freelance editing/writing, and I could get you her best rate if you like. I'm also writing a blog post on "How to Sell Anything" that I will publish this week. PM me or I'm on Twitter @RobertZuma

    Good Luck!

    • Thank You.

I will set up my Twitter to follow you.

Also, what is a ballpark figure to hire someone to writes a sales page and a 40-50 page e-Book. I've never gone that route, but I'm highly considering it.

      Once again, thanks.

My pleasure. Outsourcing is great, it lets you focus on your strengths, stay "big picture" and gets rid of the stress of doing stuff you hate. I wrote my associate to get a quote for you, I'll post it here when I get it, unless you want me to send it somewhere else?

        Cheers,
        Robert.

So it's about $650 for the book, probably another ~$40 for the sales page depending on length; jsyk. Have a good one!

There really is a formula to writing sales page. I suggest studying high-converting pages and you'll start to see it. There are certain phrases and ways of saying things that work and others that don't. But the layout is something like this:

You talk about where people are and where they want to be and how you can close the gap.(That's the pain part) You tell them your story, so they know you understand them because they won't let you teach them until they feel you understand them first.

You want to stay focused on the outcome-what they will get if they buy from you.
90% on outcome, 10% on the services you offer. You'll want to lay out the benefits of what you offer, then the features (most people start with the features when they don't know what they are doing) . Then relevent and valuable bonuses. And provide social proof. (testimonials).

You'll include the cost, and then the guarantee. You might want to recap. And finally closing statements and a P.S. Reminding them of the main benefit.

I teach people how to write compelling sales letters in my marketing courses (which I learned 6 years ago from Joe Vitale. I've also written an ebook with Jim Edwards and most of our copy. You can see it at www.sellmoreebooks.com.) And,I also do a lot of rewrites on sales pages for students and clients.

But now with video so prevalent, I highly suggest not only having a sales letter but a video sales letter as well or in lieu of a long sales letter. I can write either or both for you.

If you're interested just send an email to ellen@theebookcoach.com subject line:
"copywriting" and let me know what you need with your phone number, best time to reach you, and your time zone. Then I can give you an estimate and we can go from there.

    Hey Mike,

writing compelling sales page copy has nothing to
do with english or grade school, it's all about
    knowing your customers' hot buttons.

Now, to capture the emails of your subscribers
and still get paid for the affiliate commissions, set up
your own squeeze page and rip-off the text off
    the vendor's page.

After they optin, redirect them to the same page the vendor
redirects them and now you've got their email and they still go
through the same process as before.

I know that's unethical, but that's what I would do
if I were facing the same issue.
