Still not sure about article marketing

I'm reading up on article marketing with the view of building it into my traffic strategy. I have a site centered around one core keyword and i'm targeting 5 other related keywords in separate sections of the site.

If I was to begin article marketing would I need one article for each keyword?

Where would the links go, is it best to link to other articles as well as my site?

If i'm targeting the keywords in the article wouldn't this add to the competition that my site already has and possibly outrank my site?

I'd be grateful if someone could briefly explain!

Thanks

    Hello!

Article marketing is definitely an excellent strategy to build your career as an internet marketer.

Here's what I do for each of my selected keywords:

    1) Go to a high ranking article directory (ezine articles, article dashboard, articlebase) and enter my keyword in quotes (e.g., "loose weight") in the search box. Select the first one or two articles that come up to get ideas for my article

    2) Write an article using the selected keyword as "anchor text", which means that I hyperlink it to my desired location. This has a strong effect on your site ranking for that particular keyword.

    3) Spin my article on jetsubmitter.com (FREE!)

    4) Post it to hundreds of article directories (be careful:ezine articles, article dashboard, articlebase are very sensitive to spun articles)

    5) I also use a service that allows you to write an article and post it on 30 different blogs for free. You can also enter your blog in the system to get original content on autopilot and get 7% backlinks to your site.

    I hope that helps:-)

    My advice:

    (1) Yes, focus on one main keyword per article. You really can't target more than 1 keyword per article effectively. Adding in good LSI related keywords though is always a good thing.

    (2) Put all of your content up on your OWN site. Why would you want to be at the beck and call of a site like EZA? I sure as hell wouldn't. Of course, if you wanted to put up a copy of the article on the article site as well than OK, but never ever focus too much effort on putting up YOUR work on OTHERS' websites.

When you're talking about article marketing i'ts a volume game.

You should target every keyword you have several times with several articles.

Submit them to every GOOD directory there is. You can find these by asking a few people or doing a small search for something like top ten article directories.

My guess is they will be:
    Ezinearticles.com
    ArticleAlley
    ArticleDashboard
    Buzzle

And a few others around those. You can also throw your articles up on sites like daily article (warning it may get bought)
    Constant content, associated content.

Put the links where you can. This will usually depend on what directory you're in. Most of them allow you to put a link in the author's or resource box at the end of your article.

Have some catching so people will want to click.

Be sure your article is informational and not a sales pitch. People will be more likely to click your link if your article helped them out as it is.

So target every keyword. Submit to top ten directories. Make your article informational. Put your link at the end.
