Using Other Peoples Content

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could give me there advice on something.

I am in the process of learning this whole blog thing and making money on niches. I started my first site and have it up and going. I used all my own content and found some pretty good keywords.

What I was wondering, is if it would be good or bad for my ranking if I used someone elses content in my blogs, so I can having something everyday posted and move onto my next site.

Of course I would give credit where credit is due.

What do you think?

Thanks!

It won't help your rankings because generally, the page wouldn't get indexed. One way to improve your chances is to write an opening blurb and then maybe a blurb after saying what you thought about the articles.

It's better to use mostly your own content, though. I know it can be hard to do daily but did you know there is a scheduling feature? So you could write a bunch one day (or outsource a bunch), then load them up and schedule them to post once a day.

There is also PLR material that you can use. You take the article and rewrite it but at least it gives you a foundation to start with.

Usually, it won't be helpful because Google has no interest in duplicate content and only the webpages full of unique content can be indexed by Google. So, don't waste time on other people's content.

I agree with you. One of my site feeds its contents from various syndicated contents sites and it is on position 1 to 5 on very competitive keywords niches. However I must mention that it has not less than 6,000 syndicated contents on the site.

I have a lot of sites that have absolutely no original content on them and they rank just fine.

Duplicate, or more correctly, syndicated content is not a kiss of death. The site with the most SEO mojo is going to rank the best out of all of them.

The reason people have such a hard time competing when using syndicated content is because they are not only competing for a keyword, they are competing against hundreds or thousands of other sites with the exact same copy for that same keyword.

But like I said, out of all of those hundreds or thousands of sites with the exact same content, the site with the most SEO mojo is going to outrank them all.

From an ethical point of view, regardless of rankings, write your own content dude.

Hi guys, this is my first post on here....

Sorry - I have to disagree about the duplicate content stuff!

Every one says dont do it, or at least dont do it all the time, but I have set up over a dozen wordpress 'minisites' and ONLY filled them with 20-30 pages of duplicated content which has been copied (exactly including the links) from places like articlebase / ezine etc.

I have never had any problems getting them ranking and really high up in google. Several of them are even no1 for some good keywords.

Give it a go with some duplicate stuff and see how the site goes. Its worth a try as it saves you hours of stress trying to write content!

You can also switch back to unique content if it dosnt work out.

Yeah a website with only new context is a lot better ranked than copying other people content, its also way more ethical to be original and creative

The stongest point against using duplicate content is ethics. If you take someone else's article and reword it (I'm talking about rewording completely, not just every second sentence or something similar) there is no difference in how Google ranks that page; it will see the article as unique content.

I would recommend writing your own article, it's very easy to do and can be quite fast as well. Or you could always outsource the work, especially if you don't have the time on your hands to do it yourself.

When you write your own article you tend to learn a lot about the subject as opposed to using an article someone else wrote.

It depends on what you mean by using "someone else's content".

If you mean copying something you see on someone else's site/blog on which they own the copyright and which isn't yours to copy - then no amount of giving "credit where credit is due" will help you - you will find your site gets taken down when someone spots that you have stolen their copyrighted work.

If you mean using PLR material, or material from article directories and leaving the links and credits in tact - then go ahead - that's what those articles are for.

I don't personally see that it would harm your ranking. It might not enhance your ranking as much as original work would do, but good on and off page seo will help overcome that.

Personally I don't see syndicated contents as a problem (provided you give proper credit to the original articles). Going along that argument, isn't Google providing syndicated contents are well? The difference is that Google provides relevancy.
If we set up a site and populate it with good syndicated contents, I should see it at doing the web surfers a "favour" by giving them the best related information.
