I'm actually just talking in general if the main domain is not available.

I don't like any of them with any real relish, they are not good branding words and do not evoke any feeling at all.

They reek of being words that people simply shove on the front or end of domains to make something available, and they cheapen it horribly.

When I see something like "The Beauty Blog" my first thought is that they couldn't afford to have the premium name, or couldn't be assed making the commitment, or they couldn't be bothered coming up with an original name.

Thankfully MOST if NOT 99.999% of surfers don't think like you.

I surf the internet quite a bit, and I think like he does.

I am thinking like someone who has been surfing the internet from the very beginning of time, before most of this started and yes, I am awfully proud of the fact that I do not think like 99.999% of the world.

People appreciate originality, or straight to the point...if they come across a domain that simply tacks irrelevant words on the front or back end to get the .com then they will lose ALL respect for it unless it creates a branding image of its very own. Think "Million Dollar Homepage" and then think back to the 100s of cheap rip-offs that followed in its wake.

Go out on a limb if your choices are blocked and either invest in a good generic, there are some fantastic ones available for $60 or start thinking outside the box.

"Beauty Blog" may be taken, but instead of simply losing traffic to it by registering "The Beauty Blog" or "Best Beauty Blog" or "Fantastically Wonderful Beauty Blog" or even "No Imagination Beauty Blog" consider going in a different direction like "The Beauty Box"

You asked people to give their opinions. You did not ask people to give you the opinions of everyone else.

Actually, I'd prefer to use a suffix rather than a prefix. I want the keywords to be the first words.

If I have to use one of them, I always choose "yourblahblahblah.com" because I always try to show the benefits to the client, it is some type of copywritting technique, where you always talk about your client problems, solutions, feelings, etc...

I've been surfing the internet for quite a while myself and, until I started my online income endeavors, I didn't give much thought to how the domain names appeared to me. I was more interested in the content of the site. If the site had good and interesting content, I would take note of the name, and hope to remember it so I could visit the site again without having to search for it.

As for the OP's original question, if I have to, I am with sbucciarel in that I prefer suffixes simply because I like the keywords to appear first.

    I try to avoid:
    The
    My
    Your
    as a prefix.

I listened to a guru once who said that people forget the prefix and end up at - blahblahblah.com
