So I have done my keyword research (and found a few Niche's that I would like to tackle). I have a few articles written, and a few more that I will be completing over the next few days. I know what I want my Domains to be, and I know they are available. I have found information on how to easily install WordPress using Fantastico, as well as how to Install WordPress by hand.

Now I face a new problem. I have never used Wordpress, and I am not really sure where to begin once I have it installed on my webspace. Can any of you Warriors suggest a free guide, blog, or even an online video with some basics for getting started?

A few specific questions I have might be...

~ How to install a theme found online? (I found a few as .zip files that I like)
~ How to use Plugins? Widgets? (Not really sure what WP calls them, sorry)
~ What programming languages would be good to get a basic understanding of? I have done very basic HTML, XML, and PHP (Although PHP was never on a live website, and I know almost nothing about it now)
~ Any other suggestions for a beginner WP user?
~ How to create a Sitemap?
~ How to create a 'Static Page'?

Any advice for Organization would be a great help as well!

I have used Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools on my blogger, but only to figure out how to set them up. Are there any other analytic style tools I might need?

Thanks in advance!

~ Teravel

I'll be sure to check each of those. I spent an hour watching almost 15 video's on YouTube, but they were all about wordpress.com free websites with no custom themes or anything like that. Is the installed version on your own webspace much different?

    Hi Teravel,

To install a theme, click on themes in your admin panel and you can search there for one online or upload any you have found and downloaded to your puter. click on upload and select the file on your HD. When it's done, go to your themes page and activate the new theme.

You use plugins the same way, upload the zip file and activate. There may be a settings page for the plugin so check to see if you need to change any settings there.

Widgets - go to the widgets page and you can drag any widgets you want to your sidebars and any other widgetized areas of the theme like the footer.

You don't need to know any programming languages to use wordpress, however a basic understanding of html does help some.

There is a plugin that creates your sitemap for you, just go to plugins --> add new, then type in sitemap and it will find it for you, then just click install and activate.

You can create a "static" page just by adding a new page instead of a post. The page will be static except for any widgetized areas like the sidebars. If you want that page to be your homepage, you can change that in the settings.

Other suggestions - Just play around in the admin panel, it's pretty easy to understand once you dig in and play with it some. I will be doing a free wordpress webinar as soon as I can get my connection issues ironed out, PM me if you want to attend and I will let you know the time and date as soon as it's set.

Your first stop would be wordpress.org and check out there user guide.

      Cannot get better than that.

Other than that... you can type each of your questions into the Google search box and will be presented with how-to-videos and tons of blogs that have the answers for you.

Seriously the new wordpress 3.0 and 3.01 are so easy to work with. You can pretty much figure them out intuitively by just setting them up via fantastico and playing around in them. Save the videos for the tough parts.

I used the free videos available at becomeablogger.com . Gideon Shalwick and Yaro Starak of entrepreneurs-journey.com (Gideon's partner on this project) have done a brilliant job of educating me about blogging. I am also a premium member of this site, and those videos are even more informative, and, in my opinion, vital to a blogger's success. I continue to follow Yaro's blog, and I get my hands on everything and anything I can that has to do with these two guys.

Kudos to you, Gideon and Yaro, if you read this.

          Hi.
There are thousands of plugins for WP available. Its really quite a pain and time consuming to go through each of them.
Here are some of the plugins with the link how to install them which I really recommend! Have a look.

Simple Tags - This plugin is a way to improve your tags or keyword selections.
This plugin includes suggested tags, related tags, a tag-cloud, and
          autocompletion tags suggestions.

Contact Form 7 - This plugin is the ultimate form generator, and has so many
options and features, it will do just about anything you need it to do.
          wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/

Dagon Design Sitemap Generator : This plugin is easy to install and very easy
to customize. This is an excellent plugin to add to any list of SEO'ing. The
benefits are tremendous when it comes to internal linking, helping make a site
user friendly, and giving a bonus for search engines to crawl. Standalone or
along with Google Sitemaps generator, this is a must have for any WordPress
          users! Kudos to Aleister!

SEO Smart Links : A better way to interlink your posts to key pages deeper into
the site! SEO Smart Links plugin can automatically link keywords and phrases
in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and
          tags. All this pretty seamlessly!

StatPress Reloaded : This was made to keep the Statpress plugin alive. The
original creator does not keep the original updated anymore so this was
created. Also one of the most popular plugins to get your statistics.
Wordpress Database Backup - simple no-brainer plugin to schedule daily,
weekly or monthly database backups. Backups can be emailed to your email
          or stored on your server.
