Quick Squeeze Page Questions

hey guys just finishing up building my squeeze page...I have a few real quick questions....

Whats the best free hosting place I could host my squeeze page....?

Where do you keep your free info (your e-book or video or whatever it is you're giving away for free)? Do you just place it in on a subdomain and make it unseen to people so they need your link? Or is there some sort of HTML code that I'm gonna need? PS. I'm horrible with HTML

I was going to use WEEBLY to host my domain and thank you page - anybody use W before for their squeeze and thank page?

Any other suggestions or advice would be sweet.

    Hi Ethan,

I don't personally know of any good free hosting to host your page, I know free hosts are out there but in my experience they aren't very good for the most part. Some put ads on your pages, some have a lot of downtime, some don't have cpanel, some don't provide databases, etc. For the most part they are a pain. I use Hostgator for all my pages and sites and I have never had any trouble and for about $10 per month its well worth it.

As far as where to put your download page and files, I use a protected membership site for the download pages and files, but if you are unable to go that route, you can just upload them to your webspace and name them something hard to guess. Like, add numbers and random characters to the file names so people can't just guess your link. You can also put them inside folders with weird names to make it even more difficult to guess. Just be sure your squeezepage and download page forward to the correct links with the random numbers. This won't protect your content 100% but it will be sufficient for now.

You can also password protect directories in cpanel and give your people the password when they sign up but I normally don't recommend doing that because the harder you make it for them to get their download the fewer people will actually do it.

Hope it helps! PM me if you need any help with it.

    Les

If you are going into this business on a long-term basis, it does not make sense to use free-hosting. What will your potential buyers/subscribers think about you?

In internet marketing you need credibility and using free hosting does not enhance your credibility at all.

will visitors always check the hosting company we use? I think using free hosting is just fine as long as we use TLD.

Not all visitors will check to see who is hosting the page, but for those who are regularly buying on the internet, security is an issue, and they will check. That is going to be the lion's share of your potetial market, people who have bought online before, and do it regularly.

That's not to say it can't be done, but when you're ready for more credibility and to get a little more serious about your business, upgrade.

Best of luck to you. Come back and tell us how it worked for you.

Never ever with a free host if you want respect in the market. Remember your customers are looking for an authority in their niche.
