How do you start with SEO?

Can anyone explain how SEO works...what are the best sources to look at in terms of optimizing a site and what needs to be done...

...what I do know is that Google do change the rules.

      SEO can be very complex and detailed, but bassically it can be boiled down to 2 main things, content & back links. Create great content for the search engines but keep it real for your human visitors, get plenty of back links to your site. Then create more great content and repeat:-)
