What has happened to Nichebot

Does anyone know what has happened to Nichebot and Jim Morris. Nichebot has been around a long time and I've found it useful for answering quick questions. I know there have been problems with the system this year and the service has been out of action far too frequently but I would hate it to disappear. Any news, anyone ???

I emailed Jim at the last good address I had for him.

I'll let you know if I hear back.

I would have thought Nichebot would cease to exist after the introduction of the Free Google Keyword tool AND Market Samurai.

NicheBOT is still fine and kicking. The Rackspace server that's been operating without a glitch for nearly 3 years had some sort of disk read error and went into read only mode. Rackspace is doing a scan on the server to rebuild the journal as we speak, but it's taking a bit longer than anticipated so we may have to re-kick the server, do a fresh OS installation and revert to a backup so it's up by the early morning tomorrow. Back to bidness.

OH MY GOD! What a relief! I was googling for people asking the same questions as I had. Thankfully the familiar face popped up with an answer. mmm... Is that really you Jim?

        It's really him.

I got an email back from him last night after he posted here.

One thing I know for sure - he will fix whatever needs fixing.

Hi Jim – Glad to hear it’s nothing more serious. Nichebot is a good product but I can't wait much longer. I’ve got part finished research jobs I can’t access. If you can’t get it back up I’m going to have to find something else before the end of today as my clients are on my case.

This is the only contact I can find (no point in sending an email to a server that isn’t there).

      Hope you get it sorted.

      Cheers.

I believe NicheBOT is alive (back up and running)! And yes, this is the REAL Jim Morris. Yeah -- the team at Rackspace did a full restore that took around 10 hours to restore about 66 gigabytes of data and I've gotta compliment them. Over the past 3 years I've never really NEEDED them like I did this last couple days and they really pulled through in a situation where the hard disk just failed.

This stuff happens and you never get a warning from the disk itself until, well, its too late. And there is really no monitoring device that says, "Hey dude, the disk is about to go bad, you better get someone on it and ready to replace this bad boy."

Anyways, that's the really sucky thing is that you can't send an email to any place on the server when it's not online, so yeah, that bites seriously. This is probably why a host support desk on another server would work.

We do have an overall support desk for the corp. which is at Help Desk for FTEI and Jim Morris - powered by PerlDesk Help Desk Software -- for future reference. So that IS another point of contact just in case anything like this does happen again, which I do not foresee any time soon, but you never know. This last hard drive was the original one we upgraded 2.5 years ago and well, it just gave out.

And now, it's back to conduct keyword research again for all of us, by using the bulldozers as we say at NicheBOT, not shovels. ;-)

Just an update on Nichebot access -- we have had trouble logging into our account since December 2012, with no reponse to the Zendesk helpdesk (we're into the double digits to helpdesk and to their billing support email without reply). Even when we were just re-billed today! The support link in this thread no longer works. Even PM'd Jim Morris on this forum two weeks ago and have no reply as yet. Can anyone else tell what is going on over there? I always dug the service and the tool, would be sorry to see it gone. Thanks!

    Hi Jim:
I have been a member for many years.

Hey, you are still charging me. I get this message.

Access to this membership area is not allowed due to an expired account or an account that does not contain the proper access privileges. This is NOT a mistake.

    Please restore my account ASAP!

Well . . . . 6 months later . . . was there any news about Jim Morris and Nichebot? The site at http://www.nichebot.com seems to be dead, but Jim is STILL charging customers a monthly fee. Seems incredibly unethical at the least.

    Any news appreciated!

        Claire:
I am not sure what you meant here. . . . it was a paid membership site for several years. And it is NOT available. That was the point of the thread.

Anyone else have any news or info about NicheBot?

Well . . . the sound of silence confirms for me that Nichebot is dead.

If I ever get ahold of Jim Morris I will give him a piece of my mind. Not to mention ask him to return the money he stole from all the people he keeps charging a monthly fee to!

You all need to go into Paypal and discontinue those payments. I did that a loooong time ago with Nichebot.
