Broad vs. exact match?

When using google's keyword tool for getting my keywords should i be using broad or exact match to estimate monthly search traffic?

    I look most closely at the exact match and the phrase match numbers. Some of those broad matches can get pretty strange and irrelevant. However, to some degree it just depends on my strategy. If I have an exact match domain, I really look at the exact match but might pick up more #s in long tail words.

      It depends what you plan to do with those phrases. If you are creating content for:
      "this keyword phrase" then you need to look at exact match.

      The google keyword tool is not very accurate and not up to date.

      It is a tool created for paid advertisers. It can give an idea for organic searches, but the google autocomplete feature is much more accurate and real time up to date.

        yes you are true. google adword tool is for estimate traffic for paid advertisers. google search suggestion is best solution for finding best performing keywrods

    Broad match will give you 'bloated' figures.
