Hi, 2 Questions not really linked in any way but oh well.

1.) How do I.M.ers do the whole tax thing?

2.) I have a website that is geared towards people who just want to start making money online, i'm taking very basics. I need an affiliate product on clickbank that has the basics that is a video course and decent conversion rates? Recurring billing is also a bonus?

Thanks.

    1. Talk to a professional in your country, state, province etc.

    Talking to an accountant is really your best bet.

    Where you live, your profits from internet marketing will be assessed under Schedule D for income tax purposes, unless and until you reach a point where it pays you to form a limited liability company and trade as a company rather than as a "sole trader" (it costs only about £40 - £50 to do but imposes obligations on you as well as potentially conferring benefits for some people - not something to do without appropriate professional advice, though).

    There's also an enormous amount of information available on the Inland Revenue's website.

    Keep receipts for everything you spend that's connected to your business (including the space it occupies in your home, heating/lighting, telephone, and so on). You'll be able to deduct some of them from your takings before your tax liability's worked out.

    Please don't take this the wrong way. It's not my intention to sound condescending in any way - and it's opinion only, of course. But I think that at your age and your experience-level (which is exactly where I was myself not all that long ago), "making money online" is about the worst niche in which you could possibly involve yourself. I have many reason for thinking this, but here are just three of them:-

    (i) It's terribly competitive and you'll be competing with people who have substantial PPC budgets, and so on;

    (ii) You don't have enough experience of it yourself to be promoting it with any personal credibility/authenticity, in my opinion;

    (iii) As far as Clickbank goes, it's one of my own "avoid at all costs" niches for the simple reason that a proportion of the potential customers are themselves already Clickbank affiliates, and it'll understandably be very difficult indeed to earn any affiliate commissions on sales to them.

    I also offer the observation that products don't "have conversion rates": affiliates "have conversion rates for products" - they vary enormously between different affiliates, depending on their traffic, their relationships with their potential customers, how they've built, nurtured and communicated with their lists, and other factors, too. I accept, obviously, that some sales pages are so hyped-up and dreadful that they're barely going to convert anyone's traffic, and that one would want to avoid those altogether. In my experience, the combination of Clickbank, video and "make money online" is further truly stacking the deck against yourself in this regard.

    Just my perspective, and intended helpfully, Tom.
