Question About Selling PLR Articles

Hi, everyone. I plan to sell PLR articles soon. I have limited funds right now. I don't have a website where my buyers can download the articles. Is it acceptable to just email the articles (in zipped folders) to the buyers? Is it okay if I use free file-hosting sites such as MediaFire and Ziddu? Are there other alternatives that you can suggest?

You can definately do this without a website of your own, but I would suggest getting your own website after you made some money.

Because articles are pretty small in size it should be fine, just emailing them.

I do intend to get my own website as soon as I have the money. Thanks!

I highly suggest you get some form of automated download or you are setting yourself up for some paypal chargebacks.

These days, most people are used to getting the download as soon as they pay and I don't think people have the patience to wait for you to email them. Not only that but people are quite wary of being ripped off so if they don't see that link in their email box right away they tend to get nervous.

Maybe there is some way to do that in paypal without having a website? Or maybe you could set that up in your autoresponder somehow?

E-junkie is a good solution. Be sure to google for coupon codes; you can get up to 3 months free with a coupon. Set up your sales page on a free website - blogger, weebly, yola, etc. - and then put a link to e-junkie on that page.

You could also throw your articles up on one of those get paid to download sites such as hotfile.

The problem with emailing is when you aren't online and I'm sure you have to sleep at some stage. If people order articles then they may be waiting 8 or so hours before receiving them. As Lee said, people are use to getting the download as soon as they pay, so if there is a way to deliver the articles for free then that is your best option until you can afford paid hosting.

Good point. I might lose sales if I make people wait for the articles.

I'm not sure if you can use this, but I use a free website maker and your hosting is also free - forever. If you want to download your website at a later stage to get your own single domain name after you have made some money you can do it as well. It is very easy to use and they have very comprehensive - short but sweet, tutorial videos on how to do everything.

I have made quite a few websites here, and it has been a totally great experience - no problems ever. You can find it here: look for a site called Blinkweb. (Just add the usual bits in front and end, the http double dot and the www and the dot and the com at the end,- I need more posts to be able to add a link)

It is also easy to give your customers a download button here.

For all the reasons already listed, emailing PLR is probably not a good idea. However, hosting is so very cheap I really don't understand when people say "I can't afford a host." At Hostgator you can get started with a Hatchling plan for $7.16. A domain will cost you about $12. So for $20 you can set up a professional looking site.

I certainly understand having limited funds, but surely you can find $20. Sell something on Craig's List or eBay. Write five articles on Fivrr (can't believe I just recommended that). Mow your neighbor's lawn. Have a garage sale.

I'm not trying to beat up on you (honest) but if you're going to have business, then have a business. Don't try to muddle through with free stuff. Not only will your potential customers not take you seriously, but YOU won't either, and that's even more important, IMO.

Thanks for letting me know what you think and for your suggestions. I have $40, but I intend to use that to pay for the advertising thread that I'm going to post on the WF. Where I come from, it's hard to earn $20, so I have to look for free alternatives to things that we usually have to pay for. But as soon as I make some money, I will pay for hosting and buy a domain name.

Your profile doesn't indicate where you're from, so I apologize for making assumptions.

Okay, I'm not going to beat a dead horse here (much ), but there is one more thing I think you should consider. I would hope that you'll be doing some other forms of advertising besides buying a WSO. Things like blog commenting, guest posting, maybe build a Squidoo lens? All those links you're building are going to point to your free site, and when you move to a hosted domain, they'll be worthless. You'll have to start all over.

I'd much rather see you spend your $40 on hosting, then when you make some money buy a WSO. In the meantime, put a link in your sig. That's free.

I do wish you the best, and I'm truly not trying to discourage you, I just don't want to see you making the same mistakes that some other people (like me) have made.

I'm also an e-junkie fan - use it for all my products and I like the way you can set a certain number to sell. That way, if you are planning on selling limited edition PLR then you can ensure that is exactly what you do. There is also an option to simply host everything on e-junkie but that, I believe, comes with their slightly more expensive paid plans.

A great service and well worth what is a small investment in terms of the value you get out of it. The best of luck with your new venture!

I haven't tried E-junkie, but it seems to be a good option. The best of luck to you, too!

How are you going to sell the articles? I take mine and just use nvu to make my own index page with the articles listed and then also to make a download page that they go to after payment with the download links attached.

you will need a domain of some kind and it can just be a dot info. for uploading these files to.

    Hope that helps
