Scammers Using Amazon!

Just noticed this today. Hopefully not to many people will fall for this but no doubt some people will.

    I'm not even slightly surprised by this. Scammers are constantly finding new ways of ripping people off.

    Common sense is the only thing that will save you from those scams. Do your research. If you get an email that you don't remember instigating, delete it. If you don't want to risk losing something important, contact the company (in this case, Amazon), about the email.

    Never open a suspicious email. Ever.

    And always remember, no official from ANY legitimate company or website will EVER ask you for personal information (account information, SSN, password, credit card number, etc).

    Try to stay informed about what's going on in the world. Try to find a legitimate source of information on the most recent scams.

    Phishing has been around for over a decade. I don't see why they're warning you just about Amazon. Be on the lookout for ANY fraudulent emails. It's kind of like telling someone to be careful solely around shotguns when a pistol can be just as dangerous.

    A few days ago, they caught a guy that produced over 1/3 of the internets spam. He was supposed to be in court last friday. Not to sure about the verdict, but the court hearing was in my nearby city.

    I got a call from "hostgator" claiming they lost my credit card. Well, I knew it was a trick because they did not know the name of any of my web sites. Folks, there is a lot of cyber crime. Especially in the holiday season.

    I told the fraudster, if you are so incompetent you really lost my cc, then I do not want to do business with you ever. He did not call me anymore.
