Hi everybody!

Sorry I posted this in the wrong area - so I am reposting it here - forgive me. I am new to niche marketing and have a site all built but am having trouble with keywords. I have checked my keywords in google and yahoo using the quotes and the numbers are so different! For example this is what I typed into both google and yahoo "power of attorney forms" google says 69,000 and yahoo says 77,500,000 - which one do I believe and is this a good way to determine the amount of competition I would have for that keyword? I have also read about using the allintitle command. When I do allintitle: "power of attorney forms" I get 5510, when I do allinanchor: "power of attorney forms" I get 46,500 and when I do allinurl: "power of attorney forms" I get 3420. So which should I look at to pick a good keyword - the allintitle, anochor, or url? What numbers should I be looking for to show that it is a good keyword? I have also read that using seoquake when I do this I get an average PR of 3.1 when I type "power of attorney forms" into google. There are two sites listed in the top ten google results that have 6 yahoo links according to seoquake so if I get seven good quality links will my page will I outrank them?

Any help you warriors can give a newbie would be great!

    Go with what Google says if it's Google you primarily want to rank in. Using quotes is the best start. Allintitle is telling you there's that many with your exact phrase in the title of the page. However, that doesn't mean they're doing anything to rank it! The allinanchor tells you how many times that anchor text is found in links (people link building for that phrase). You could go a step further and look at those links...are the crappy, low-quality links you could beat or are they quality ones

    I suggest that you shift this question to folks in SEO Discussion subforum of this forum so that you will get more explicit answer.

    Meanwhile, I use Google for all my basic or do-it-quick keyword researches.

    I suggest you get more sophisticated keyword research tool like Market Samurai.

    EDIT: Please don't over-analyze the niche or else you may feel like you are going crazy. Make up your mind, take action, maybe make mistakes, learn form the mistakes, find out what works, keep at it until you achieve success.

      That is something I always do.. I get scared often when starting a new niche. I get all this "oh you won't rank in this niche" thinkings and stuff making it harder for me to choose a niche >.<

        Deal with it before it deals a permanent blow on you. And maybe leaves a permanent scar...

        My "problem" is that I don't know how to get scared.

          if you want to find the real competition, try to combine the three tag, type in google allinurl, allintitle, and so

          it will alow search result like that, I think thats is your real competition, other else is just don't relevan in the way what keeyword you are looking for

    More important than the total number of search results, which is a clue as to the overall popularity of the term, focus on the sites in the first couple of results pages, they occupy the spaces you need to get into to be profitable, see their pr, backlink and page counts, these qualities your site will have to match or exceed.
    Use multiple keyword tools to gauge the search popularity of the niche keywords, one assumes the google kw tool best reflects their search results, but it still is inexact.

    hi there - google the keywords that you are targetting and want to rank for. Then go to the sites that rank before you - list them all and visit alexia to see what they rank for. type the site names into the box on alexia and then the searches will appear on the right side. you can get the keywords and use them in your content ( ie hire a writer to update your site seo , and internally use them in meta tags etc.

    that should help you to get rid of the sites that are above you - and help to pound them down
