I would like to add some photos to my websites. Some will be sold and some I will market myself.

What istock photo websites are the Warriors using? What should I look for in such a site?

Thanks in advance!

I don't really get what you're asking here.

In most cases stock photos (istockphotos is the websites) can't be resold.

If you're looking to sell photographs, you're more than likely going to have to take them yourself.

I was not speaking of selling the photos. I meant selling the website that I use the photo on.

I'm not sure if that is possible with the terms & agreements that I have been reading.

I haven't read their agreement of late, but it allows quite a bit. I believe they offer what you're looking for.

Stock Photography: Download Free Stock Photos & Royalty Free Images let's you sell sites with the images you bought from them. I mailed them about this specifically, and this was their answer:

You do not have to purchase extended license. Although licenses cannot be transferred, if you sell the site with the image included, no additional licensing is required. However, please explain to the person who purchases the site the license specifications and make sure they are aware that the image cannot be used otherwise than mentioned by our terms and conditions.

        Hi Mika,

I beleive the only way you can resell an iStockphoto image in a website is to buy an extended license. The regular license does not allow you to transfer file ownership from what I understand (especially multiple times).

Best bet is to use free images that allow for commercial usage and redistribution. Make sure you read the license for each photo to ensure you are in compliance as many of the "free" sites still have copyrights and rules to obey.

SmashingMagazine.com is an excellent site for findig background images, icons and graphics for free, and many have open commercial licensing. I use them all the time as a resource.

Best of luck to you. - Scott

Actually, I spoke with the people over at istockphoto about this a while back and they said it is fine to sell websites with the stock photos on it BUT you give up all rights to the photo and have to delete it from you hard drive, servers etc.... So basically, you are passing on the rights to use it.

Of course, they have to be part of the sites as you can't sell the images alone and you can't have the same image on more than one site that you sell (unless you buy it again).

That was a year or so ago so you might want to double check to make sure you can still do this.

do you mean affiliate marketing with such photo sites like istock?? You can't take their images and then sell them yourself... You would need to become an affiliate..
