This is a curly one...

Has anyone used TTS - Text To Speech software to create audio books?

If so, which one have you found best.

Or do they turn out nasty?

Thanks for any advice.

I use TextAloud. The main thing that affects the quality of the audio output is the voices you use. There are a number of additional voices you can buy from their website, but first listen very carefully to the voice samples. Just beware though, some of these files can be very big when you install them.

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I had a look at next up today. Wasn't sure about the voices and having to buy them. The acapela seem to be the best.

The one I'm seriously looking at is NaturalSoft. The pro version is almost $100, but you get the choice of 2 voices.. and I'm really just after a male and female voice.

The main concern is how it presents as a finished product.

      Thanks again.

      Sal

Cool. Just checked it out. At $70 per year it's great value and you can do a 30 page book per recording.

The downside is that the voices sound awful... very mechanical.

But thanks for the heads up.
