Anyone notice squidoo rankings for long tail keywords dropping off today or recently?

Some of my clients have commented on a possible Google SquidSlap coming. I am still looking into it but it may be that another re-shuffle is on the way.

      Yup... It's a definite...

From early testing it looks like some have laready dropped/shuffled around. If it was new lenses I would be inclined to overlook it, but right now some established lenses have had issues...

Diversity wins though.. think on your feet

My Squidoo lenses seem to be slowly disappearing. I had one lens that was #1 on Google for several keywords, now it is nowhere to be found. Then again, I am new to internet marketing, and this could just be my fault. I need to work on adding fresh content. Hopefully Squidoo won't get slapped since a lot of people are using it.

Don't you think that sticking to great quality content which you believe in 100% will always win out?

You make a very important point Bornelite. That is definitly a key to helping a len longevity. I am seeing that some of my clients lens's that have gone stale (little or no updating) are all dropping off, those that are constantly updating have dropped off a bit (so I am thinking Google is doing it's thing) but they have not fallen as far as stale ones.

Google is constantly reshuffling, I see this all the time.

Just because things where great a month of so Google has a way of modifying your results.

Spread out your links and don't depend on what is working.

Also do deep links into your sites.

This has always help me stay on top.

In addition many times things that have not worked for while come back in the rankings.

        Spread the risk.

Just wait till you have to depend on the amount of visitors and time they spend on your site. Google has this in the works for some time now. By factoring this into the mix eventually getting links is going to be worthless. Having a sticky site will be everything.

That's why we all need to diversify our traffic sources including using video as there will be a "flavor of the month site" that google loves and falls out of love with, many times due to overuse or misuse so we all can come out unscathed.

Getting anchored links for Squidoo lenses is difficult, for some reason bloggers seem to hate when you anchor to a lens. Getting back links is very important.

I noticed the same thing with my lens's also, and now know why that happened. Thanks all!

Don't you realize what business Google is in? It's the advertising business, of course, and content relevance is the name of the game. If new content appears that is fresher and/or more relevant, then it's the NEW KING.

I wish it were that simple! Unfortunately (fortunately for some?) google looks at a lot of things outside of content!

Maybe since they have come out with their own version - their knoll pages - they changed their algorithms to lessen the importance of the squidoo pages.

    Just a possibility.
