My first 60 subscriptions in 2hours!

Hey guys,

I've been around studying internet marketing for a while but never really taken any massive steps to building a list. But I finally did it now, and generated 60 subscribes in 2hours. I just wanted to test it out, get some success/ideas to hopefully motivate me more and it has done just that.

The idea?
To create a FREE WSO (warrior special offer - a product for people on Warrior Forums that is below market price) and to direct them to a squeeze page. Well, as you have often heard that the money is in the list. Thats why I will try to focus on two main things, content and list building.
The reason for creating this FREE WSO is that I had to try it out so I can figure out myself how this thing works first hand. After reading the forums for quite a while it is quite evident that many people make $5000, $10000 or even more from releasing Warrior Special Offers.
Just a heads up, posting a WSO does cost $40 and membership I think cost about $37?. If you want to be successful online, I highly recommend getting the warrior forum membership. It is by far the best investment you'll ever make, the amount of things you will learn is beyond any course will teach you.
The Result?
60 Subscribers in 2 hours! Finally, some success after hard work. In the Wso, I just created a video tutorial on how to setup your wordpress blog and gave away a free report. That's it! So anyone can do that and create a list in just 1 day basically.
What I learn't?
Creating a list is easy and don't forget to put in all the details of what your WSO covers, because people will ask and that will save you alot of time answering questions.
The product doesn't have to be perfect but it does have to provide value to the people who bought it.
What to do next?
Create a better WSO and release it again!

To your success,
Hogan Chua

hi hogan, glad to see your journey in IM is starting to pick up. Wishing you all the best with it! And yes, people love free stuff, its the best way to gain warm traffic to your sites. However it is only effective to market them products within the same niche

Hey Hogan, congrats on building that great amount of subs but I think you should focus of monetizing it because having subs doesn't mean profiting.

    Cheers,

Nice one Hogan. For sure, giving away something of value that people are looking for to get them to opt in, and then following up with even more great stuff, is a great way to do it!

What is even better is you are promoting with highly targeted people in the forum. Internet marketing niche is really effective in gathering subscribers.

That's a terrific result and thanks for sharing. I'll delve into the detail later, be interesting to see how many of your sign ups stay on your list and for how long ??

Well done on taking action and getting subscribers, however there are a few problems with building a list the way you did it.

At the moment you've spent $40 and got 60 people on a list, you have no way of knowing if they are buyers or not. A better way of doing it would have been to charge a nominal amount foir the report and you would then have people you know are not afraid of buying online and are not just freebie seekers.

I put 5000 people on a list in one day doing something similar to you (i did have a big twist to it) I then had to build a list of buyers from that list.

Don't be tempted to go the route that so many marketers seem to go, getting big lists that are not responsive and not buyers.

Recently for a friends launch the best jv partner had a list of only 2500 he made over 100 sales (commission was $100)the 2nd guy had 25,000 on his list and made 23 sales.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the information, that does make a lot of sense. I'll try that next time

In your opinion would it be better to do a confirm opt in as well?

A confirmed opt in is always good!

You will get much lesser spam complaints.

I have opted in before to a few marketer's list before and there was no double opt in. So I forgot that I actually opted in and days later when I get emails from them, I will go scratching my head wondering "Did I subscribe to this?"

Double opt in to me is important

I personally own a big list in the IM niche and I can tell you first hand that using double opt in will cripple your list building efforts. Of course you can test that yourself, but anyone with a big list will tell you the same thing. Yes, using the double opt in feature will lower the complaints rate, but the idea is that you're building a list to make money out of it. Which means you'll be sending lots of emails and sooner or later the subs not interested in what you have to offer will unsubscribe anyway.

This applies for the situation where you have a list building system in place. If you only plan to put let's say just 100 people per month on your list... you get my point.

Also, when offering free information in order to get subscribers try to qualify them by offering a cheap upsell as soon as they get in (even though the model Thompson suggested in more profitable).

Got to agree with almost everything you said there, I had several people sign up to my list yesterday via an offer i was running, about 10% got what they paid for then unsubscribed even though it was double optin.

The thing was the first email i send out I send something much better than what they bought If it was single opt in they still might be on the list.
