Rookie article marketing income

I am writing 2 articles a day (800-1100 words each) to start off my career and I have made no income yet. I know this is a marathon, not a sprint so the waiting aspect doesn't deter me from my goal one bit. However it does get hard working for 2 or 3 weeks in the beginning and not seeing the fruits of you labor.

My goal is to be making at least $5,000 a month within the next three months. So with that said, how much did you article marketers make your first few months starting out?

That is a very high expectation - what makes you think it is realistic? I have thousands of articles published and they don't bring in $5k a month on their own.

    nothing to see here.

Really? Wow, I kind of see why people say that there are much better ways for newbies to earn money than article marketing.
Well like I said, it was a goal. Even if I don't reach it I will still give the necessary effort.

This is an example of how much of this work is very low value... much lower than you may have been led to believe. You have to ignore all of the headlines and sales letter hype that say nonsense like imagine writing just 1 article per day and at the end of a month those 30 articles are earning a steady $150 to $450 per month income for you.

I honestly don't know where they get such numbers from. I'd like to believe they actually have some vaguely legitimate reason (like maybe 8 years ago they saw results like that) but I think it is more likely they are either just intentionally greatly exaggerating the money or else they are simply clueless and honestly believe all you need to do is write 1 article and you'll be making a steady $5 to $15 per month.

It's crazy really. If the value of an article was that high... oh how I (and many others) would be so very happy.

If you want your income to jump up like that, you may consider outsourcing your article marketing. You'll need to pump out a lot more than 2 articles per day to reach that income. However, once you start producing a lot of articles and syndicating them, the income will start to flow more smoothly.

What are you doing with those articles? How good are the articles? What are you doing with traffic from the articles?

    Nothing...Nadda...Not a sausage!

Simply writing articles will not guarantee future riches. There are so many other factors to consider - How engaging are your articles? Where are you publishing them? (e.g. own site, article directories, blogs, authority sites, etc.) Are you writing them for syndication or to rank in the SE's or both?

Does the niche in which you are writing your articles generate a lot of interest (traffic, etc)? Where do your articles lead to (squeeze page, landing page, own product, affiliate product, own service, etc)? Are you actively writing articles to sell, to provide information, etc, etc, the list goes on!

As Andy has quite rightly pointed out you have extremely high expectations. Would you go into an offline job/career as a total rookie/novice/apprentice and expect to be earning this kind of income within a few months?

I'm not trying to burst your bubble here, and article marketing, when done correctly, can easily provide the type of income you have stated, but...I'm just saying!

For me article marketing starting producing results once I changed my mindset...I stopped thinking about the money and concentrated on providing as much value as I possibly could. I still have a way to go, but there is a wealth of experienced (and successful) article marketers on this board who may have a completely different opinion to me.

How are you getting traffic to your articles? Are you backlinking to them, promoting them through social networks? Where are you publishing them? Your traffic will come from them being syndicated so they need to be published where syndicators will find them.

Wow, as Andy said, that really is a very high expectation. That said, what are you doing with your articles? If you want to get the most out of your work you have to really get your content out there.

Are you building an optin list with your articles?
Are you submitting them to every possible article directory?
Are you making videos out of your content and submitting them to every possible place?
Are you creating pdf ebooks out of collections of the articles and submitting those all over the place?
Have you approached web site owners in complementary niches and asked if you can write a guest blog?
Are you backlinking your articles to improve their SERPs?
Are you examining which articles are getting the best click through to figure out how to improve your results with the others?

    Good luck with your goals.

I'm curious also, what niche are you working in? Did you study the niche to see if it's possible to earn a great value on that niche? Are you using the right keywords? Assuming you're driving the traffic to your website/sales page with a highly convertible product/service it will still take a long longer than three weeks if ever.

Typically you're going to need many niche sites making 100 to 200 dollars a month from a product or some sort of automatic service that doesn't actually require you to do anything to earn this amount of money.

In addition to that read Jody-W's post above as there are very good points there. Just as a frame of reference I am putting out 10 to 20 articles a day for me and others and only two people are making that sort of money but they have very high value product(s)
