Can I redistribute or sell a software with GPL licence?

I went through the GPL licence and it says I can. I just wanted to check if there are any legal issue if I distribute a software which says GPL 3.0.

Thanks.

I'm not a lawyer, but as far as I know the only issue would be if you charge for the software. If you are distributing it with another product and you make clear that the software is free but you charge for the product you provide with it, it shouldn't be a problem, though again, I'm no lawyer so my advice is worth at least what you paid for it...

Doesn't GPL say you can charge for the software but not restrict the distribution?

You may sell GPL'd software - the license basically states you can not prevent others from modifying or doing the same as you.

If you were to take a GPL'd product, extend it by adding features and then tried to sell it without making the source available and allowing others to modify it then that would be against the license and open you up to lawsuits.

Yes, you can sell GPLed software. In fact, you can do anything with it. But remember that once software is getting distributed under GPL, all further modifications and products using this software as their part must be GPLed as well.

I'm pretty curious whether you found some worthly business opportunity if asking this question...

It's because Once GPL, Always GPL. If he got some GPLed software he can't do anything about it. I mean he cannot change its GPL license to some other kind of license. That's what GPL is for actually.
