Need help please! (setting up new membership site with wordpress)

Wow! I've read so many posts on this and have become even more confused about which "solution" is best for me to go with...

I'd like to set up a drip fed fixed term membership site using wordpress. Does any one know the easiest and fastest way for a non-techie to set this up?

My idea was to use Wordpress with Optimize press, and aweber, and use some sort of simple plugin or software to offer:
1) security of the content, and
2) the ability to release content to each member as they work through the program.

So I'll pre-load the site with 12 months worth of content, and each new member starts from the beginning (first month's content) and works their way through the course as they pay for it, each month automatically getting access to their next month's content.

If anyone can offer some help/advice on the best solution I should go with here, that'd be too awesome....

thanks!

  • Hi Hayrik, for my opinion the best membership plugin on market is Magic Members, but it cost $97 for 1 blog and $297 for unlimited blogs.
Magic Members supports Drip feed and a lot of other things, like member's login from 1 IP only.

For me it's absolutely the best, but this is my simple point of view.
    See you,

      Thanks Alessandro,
I hadn't heard of Magic Members. However $97 / $297 seems to be the standard price for many of these solutions. I'll check it out!

Hey I have been a member of Wishlist since they started in 2009! Their customer service is number one Hayrik! Plus they are always following up with help. And they have a super cool membership themselves where it is a community with tons of info.

Also I hear good things about DAP (Digital Access Pass) though I havent used it yet I have talked to its creator Ravi who is pretty cool. Those two have been vetted the most. I would suggest you stay away from amember though. They are not bad it is just that the first two are better. PM me if you have questions.

Hey Darren, now that's weird... I only just watched the video on your site (with your comparison b/ween OP & Profits Theme) ...then I came here and saw your post ;-)

Hey it kind of looks like Profits Theme may even offer the whole solution for me if it "drip feeds" content. Do you know if their drip feed feature recognizes when a member joins and can manage something like a fixed term membership - or that's probably a bit too much to ask, lol

Hey thanks Oh I thought you were talking about something to go with your current theme or something thats why I didn't mention the obvious being the PT king around here (laugh)

Yes they do in fact it is pretty easy compared to the other 2 I mentioned because it is designed for beginners.

Wishlist and DAP are vetted meaning they have been around longer and FOCUS on membership sites no matter what theme you have.

But Profits Theme is a theme vs plugin and yes it does drip feed and of course a fixed term and trail memberships as well like the other 2. Also besides being a membership theme of its own it also integrates with wish and DAP

Ha! Well I actually 'was' initially looking for something to go with my current theme.....

But theeeeen I saw your video and realized that Profits Theme could solve my issue plus give me some cool new features over OP.

I like OP a lot and it's served me well thus far, but PT looks pretty awesome, and if it does as you've said re: managing fixed term memberships, then I'm a happy gal

          Thanks so much Darren

If you are concerned about easy of use, then you may want to check out Wishlist Member. They just released a new version which includes a setup wizard that makes it easier than ever to create a membership site using their plugin.

If you are not concerned about easy of use, then check out Digital Access Pass (DAP). Its a little more involved to setup but it has a better sequential release feature and includes a built in affiliate management system.

I am a big fan of Wishlist Member (as a membership site developer), but also really like DAP. You really can't go wrong with either one of these two systems.
