Wordpress Plugin Developers And Marketers Problems

Guys, marketers and developers are TWO totally different breed...lol

I found this awesome plugin that does what i want but for one really
major issue it is rendering my images inactive and causing issues on
my blog because it is setting permission on my upload folder.

Now I spoken to the developer and explained a few things he should
think about because this is a very interesting plugin and a lot of other
marketers might be interested in it if he made it work a little different
and I gave him details...

But while talking I realize he was so interested in anything i said and
what he created is what he wants for him, but why create a plugin
and release it if you can't or don't want to get feedback on how to
improve it...

Kind of weird but still hoping he sees my points it might be a language
thing but it is something I notice with programmer who I want to work
with but just end up dropping them because they refuse to open their
minds...

Have you guys ever notice that with programmers that don't have much
or no idea about marketing?

Actually no I have not noticed ...lol Dave as you know I am a website developer but as you also know I have created some very useful and successful products.

With that being said and as I have posted many times I do not consider myself a marketer.

I do however consider myself to have a very open mind that thinks out-side-the-box ... I do not like to do things the "normal way" or "follow" just what someone else does. I love to create something that is way better than what others have created.

  • I'm a marketer and a programmer so I have no idea what you are talking about

I would just pay someone to recreate it for you then sell it........

about a script you said you got working. "Instant Split Commissions" is the
name of it. what did you do to get it working dude? I had the same problem as the other dude, and I did the "createtables" thing, but no luck,
so, mighty guru, if you can help, great. dre

Let me explain a bit from someone with a development background's point of view. (Btw this is assuming the plugin was being released for free not paid for)

When developers give away software that they write for free they're not necessarily interested in maintaining it but they are interested in saving the next guy some work.

The statement they're making isn't, "I made this great product which I think you'll like."

Its, "I wrote this to solve a problem I had, maybe its of use to you too."

The emphasis being developers release stuff like that for other developers. But most stuff like that comes "as is" and there's no support for it. That's pretty much the fundamental difference between Open Source projects and commercial ones.
