Oh wow, that is handy. Finally, no more looking at the clock to see if I get to check my email yet! Great way to manage your time. I'm using my five minute breaks to check WF, my email, and fb. lol

Thanks for this, have installed it and now its running.

Far too often we get bogged down in a task for hours without taking the time to review our progress, with the result that it would have been more effective to 'sleep on the problem'

I looked at the main download link and thought, HUH?

The correct address is http://www.thefocusmaster.com (notice the 'the' in front of focusmaster).

I suppose, though, that a MMA training system could serve to help you focus...

Me too... some guys in a gym lol! Just downloaded the focus master from the correct link though and it looks awesome. I already do 'power hours' where I focus completely only on things that add profit to my business but this will really help.

        Thanks for sharing this guys.

Yes, i'm using this as well and it's pretty awesome! Another way that you could help to stay focus is to put your phone on silent mode.

I find these softwares helpful as it not only organizes your time but it train you to think faster, knowing that you have to work within that given time frame.

Never heard of the app , thanks for that . Seems like a 25 minute counter . I use
online-stopwatch and use a 60 minutes and I stay on the task for 60 minutes after which i rest for 10 mins and do another 60 minutes blasts until the job is done

Nice apart from the ticking sound. It would be good if it allowed you to list what task you are currently doing like a schedule.

The Pomodoro Technique is a great focus tool and really does work. You'll be amazed at how much more work you can get done using the method. I 1st learn't about the technique from an Ed Dale Seminar and have used it ever since.

I highly recommend using Zimmerman's tool

I've used software like that in the past, and I've found that any time you can set a deadline will help you.

It's the lack of deadlines that makes people wander. Also, stop checking the damn email... Check it in the morning or at night, unless you're waiting on one specifically. People waste so much time with email it makes me sick, and that's an easy 1-2 hours per day (and probably more, since it breaks your concentration and leads to more prolonged breaks in focus) that you could easily recover and spend on more productive things.

I just rely on my motivation to not disappoint my accountability partner. If I tell her I have certain goals set for the day, I will do my best to satisfy them and then go beyond. I strongly dislike disappointing people, so this easily keeps me on track for my daily goals with IM.

Just an FYI for anyone who cares, this software is based upon Adobe Air. The site claims it will run on Windows or the Mac, and I'm sure it does.

I'm also pleased to report that it runs just fine on LINUX as well! I've used the Focus Master which is more sophisticated and a great tool, but sadly it does not run on LINUX (and it won't run under WINE either). Now that I have this tool I can run it on my main workstation, so perhaps I'll actually put it to use!

I went to a lecture a few years ago where the pomodoro technique was explained in detail - seems to me the original tool for doing this was actually a mechanical kitchen timer. I always meant to pick one up, this software saves me the trip to the dollar store to get one.

    Nice find, thanks!

    Bill
