Found Niche!Need Help

I hope this is the right place to ask this. I found a niche two days ago and made a blog but I dont think its going to do very well. My niche is about baby gender prediction and I found a great product or affiliate program to put on my blog but I cant seem to market it. I dont see too many people wanting information on baby gender prediction. What can I do? I dont want to start building traffic knowing its not going to make me any money in the long run.

    What type of niche research did you do?

    What are your competitors doing, many niches you can't make money straight out so in those niches many times I see advertising as the revenue model.

      What do you mean by advertising? I did a little research using google adwords to see about the competition. Its not really that much.

      Hi Mekap04,

      Don't understand the concept I'm affraid. Before conception there's a 50% chance of a boy and a 50% chance of a girl. During the pregnancy you don't need to predict the sex of the baby - you can tell for sure based on the ultrasound scan.

      Am I missing something?

        You are right in some case. I was up all night gathering this information when I created this blog, so some stuff might not be understandable but some people like to go by old wives tales and other methods to see if they can predict there babys gender during pregnancy. Some cant wait until its time for the ultrasound. Its a hard concept. People are different when it comes to wanting to know if there baby is going to be a boy or girl.

    I don't mean to offend anyone...have you tried marketing it to Muslims?

          The first thing to look at when choosing a niche is whether people are online looking for the terms - looking at the competition comes next for me.
          Doing the proper keyword research, looking at the competition and the target market are the most important steps in choosing a niche that has good potential for profit.

          The search counts for this term are low which means not a lot of people are searching for the keyword phrase each day. A large number of sites contain some info about baby gender prediction but the highest search number I found was 101 a day - not much.

          Searching the term in google yields 240,000 results (competition) - and most are subtopics included in a site that has various info and products for infants. That means google has 240k sites listed that have some info on baby gender prediction. Only a handful of the sites are devoted to the topic because it is such a narrow one; most of the competing sites are "baby" sites with several topics of interest and they include a section or page about gender prediction.

          If I researched this niche I would consider it too narrow to be profitable and would back up a step and add other baby topics to broaden the scope (and the target market) of the site. The gender predictor topic would be one of several topics on pregnancy, infants, etc.

          You seem to be using a blog rather than a website. Can you really write enough over an extended time period on that one narrow subject?

            Thanks for the great information. I really appreciate you taking the time to look that stuff up. I am new to this and am very frustrated in finding a good niche. I will delete the blog but I think my niche finding is over. Its too hard for me to find a good niche. I only know about being a parent, modeling, anime, and reality tv. I guess you could say those were my passions (except for reality tv, I love to watch it though). Plus I dont have the tools to do all that research. Thanks again on that. I would have wasted a lot of time on that.

              You can also use google to find keywords

              After you find a niche with a good amount of searches (which could be anything from a few hundreds to thousands a day depending on the topic)
              you use google and enter the keyword (the niche topic) in the search box and see what the competition looks like. Look at the sites on the first and second page of the search results google gives you to see how they are put together, how they look, what you are competing with.

              Nothing wrong with a blog at all - many marketers use them instead of sites these days. The only problem was in choosing a subtopic that on its own is not likely to pull much traffic and also would be hard to keep writing about week after week.

              BUT - adding other categories to your blog that concern babies, baby names, baby care, pregnancy, etc could make the difference.

              WHAT IS A NICHE? WHERE DO YOU FIND A NICHE?

              Gardening is a subject - perenniel gardening is a niche, orchids are a niche, roses are a niche

              Babies are a subject - baby names, designer baby clothes, gender predictor - those are niches on that subject.

              Wherever you are, think "niches". Listen to your friends and take note of the new style purse or new kitchen gadget they are raving about. Then check out those topics at the links above to see if others are searching for them, if there are ads placed for them and if there are affiliate programs for the product that you might be able to earn commission from.

              Look at the front page of magazines in the grocery - what topics are repeated again and again on those cover pages? Watch other shoppers as you shop to see what new products catch their attention.

              The interests you list for yourself are all good subjects - and contain some great niches.

              I'm pushing you a bit for one reason: I hate to hear a woman say "I'm only this". You can always be more - you just have to reach for it and stick with it.

              Nothing about finding a niche, looking at keywords and competition and regularly posting to a blog is hard to do. How well you do is up to you - but you CAN get it done if you'll let yourself do it. Then, instead of "only this" you can say "I'm this, and this, and this...."

              Just do it!

              Since you mentioned modeling, I suggest you look into creating information products on becoming a successful model.

              You can start by writing an introductory ebook on modeling and sell it for $19.97.

              Then, create a high ticket home study course with videos or audios and sell it for $197 and above.

              Next, create a continuity program where you offer personal coaching and/or an audio interview with a successful model every month. You can charge $20 to $30 a month for this service.

              This can be a 6-figure business if you do it right.
