Marketing or IT Consulting or Selling something?

I'm a newbie at Internet Marketing, but I have read a few books and built a couple of Wordpress sites, and figured out just a basic knowledge of css and php to modify Wordpress sites. I have learned a little about SEO as well and seen it work for one of my sites.

I haven't made any money yet, except for selling on ebay, because I haven't been able to get focused in an area that is interesting enough to me or that I feel I can really offer something of value. I don't want to just pitch MMO or cheap duplicate info.

All my experience has been in corporate desktop support... I've been doing it for 16 years!

I'm leaving my job at the end of August to collect a pension that is ending. So I have three months to find a replacement income for my job... I need to make in the 25/hr range minimum.

I'm looking at doing what I know: IT support for homes or small business full time... I am also looking at web design, mobile web design, social media or seo marketing consulting, or trying to find something to sell, and using the internet and offline methods to sell, sell, sell.

Any recommendations? I plan on building my own sites and becoming a full time Internet Marketer... but that will take time... I need an income soon.

I am even willing to work for next to nothing or free for the next couple of months if someone would mentor me in web design or marketing, etc.

Thanks,
Mark

    Hi Mark,

If you wish to continue in your area of expertise you should consider signing up as a freelancer with sites like ODesk or Elance because you could get work with those sites right away and build up your client base.

Other revenue generation ideas you might want to consider are: 1. Starting a blog to offer DIY computer advice to non techies. You could eventually turn the site into a paid membership site or start a paid e-newsletter from it or 2. Write a e-book on computer repair, programming or something related to what you're skilled at.

Since you have basic website design skills you could also make money from those skills by offering website design services to your local area. Many business owners aren't looking for flashy sites and if you have basic skills and offer good customer service to them you could make money in that arena.

    Good luck on your efforts.
